As a fan from way back I'm kinda excited, but not really. I think the music has become kind of a parody of itself. Neutral

Here's an old but hilarious Onion article.

Well, I really respect Manson's intelligence. I think he's a bright guy, and puts a lot of thought into what he does. But that said, I'm not a fan of his music at all; just can't get into it. Still, I hope it does well.

Nobody is shocked by him anymore, there's no reason for him to be around.

I wonder if he's still the same attention whore he was years ago when he was, well, original? If not truly bizarre?
Other than that, I don't like him that much and thus didn't realize he was releasing a new album.

That the main reason I posted that Onion article, the title was Marilyn Manson Now Going Door-To-Door Trying To Shock People

Check it out it's pretty funny.

I liked his stuff up through Golden Age of the Grotesque. Haven't heard the new album, and "Eat Me, Drink Me" was complete crap that was seemingly aimed at emo kids.

Marilyn Manson was already outshocked during his time by the likes of Cannibal Corpse and Carcass. Why he was even famous is beyond me

He was famous because he wrote good songs. Heck, I liked him better when he stopped trying to be the king of shock rock and started trying to be David Bowie. Mechanical Animals was his best album, imho.

I don't understand why he's been saying that The High End of Low would be more aggressive like Antichrist Svperstar was, I've heard all the tracks on myspace and with the exception of two they're all slow and plodding. There doesn't seem to be any bite to them, nothing seems that angry or heavy.

The way I look at it there's three categories for Manson's albums.

Classic
Portrait of an American Family
Antichrist Svperstar
Mechanical Animals
The Last Tour on Earth (Great Live Album)

decent but not much new
Holywood (felt like a mash up of the ideas and sounds from Antichrist and Mechanical too me)
Smells Like Children (Three awesome cover songs and a bunch of weird audio loops and remixes)
Remix and Repent (again just a bunch of remixes and some live stuff)
Lest we Forget (more cover songs and a best of collection)

blah
Golden Age of Grotesque (Some new ideas when it comes to lyrical structure and delivery, but not the best album in the world.)
Eat Me Drink Me (lamest title ever, cheesy little goth pop record that isn't half bad but not what you'd expect from Manson.)

I have a feeling that the new one is going to be in the decent but nothing new or blah categories.

Sad

I'm not really a fan of his music but there are a few songs of his that I find to be all right.

"Anybody who ever built an empire, or changed the world, sat where you are now. And it’s because they sat there that they were able to do it."

"Fighting in a basement offers a lot of difficulties, number one being, you're fighting in a basement."

He needs to stop showing his ass so much, back during the Dead to the World Tour he focused on stalking around the stage on stilts and generally being creepy as hell by cutting himself with broken bottles and shit, all the live footage I see nowadays is nothing but ass shots, like he just cant wait to moon the audience.

Okay, you look like a creepy tranny, I get the point already. Keep your ass pointed towards the back of the stage and concentrate on the singing and stuff. Mad
