From IMDB's news section:
Billy Bob Thornton will star as Freddy Krueger in a new Nightmare On Elm Street movie.

The 53-year-old actor will take on the chilling role in a remake of the 1984 original.

Robert Englund, who played the part in eight films, revealed that Thornton will star in the horror films and is an "excellent choice" for the role.

He adds, "A big budget should mean the film will look a lot better than some of the old movies."

Evil Only one person is suitable to play Freddy Krueger.

Billy Bob is coming to a private record store here in Minneapolis, I plan to get a copy of "Sling Blade" signed. Pretty much the only movie I really liked him in.

Robert Englund is the only one that should ever play Freddie. Unless he is dead no one should ever be in consideration.

This!

I havent watched many horror movies but Freddie is the one i have seen and to this say he scares the crud out of me. Also, I cannot imagine Billy Bob playing Freddie, it just seems out of place.

The Halloween remake made $78,305,689, and cost roughly $15,000,000 to make. If it was a good move is debatable, but it was not a flop.

Also, Robert Englund said he supported the remake when he was a guest on Loveline. Just thought I should throw that out there.

Next thing we know, Flavor Flav will play the main bad guy in the Candyman remake if they have a remake.

Oh crap, I just gave Hollywood an idea!

I thought the same thing while reading your first sentence. You know, i wonder if hollywood does search on forums for ideas. Look at how recent movies turn out, hollywood is obviously out of ideas.

When you can't think of anything new simply take an existing movie or book, remake it and simply advertise it as is something new!

I remember seeing Batman fans freaking out that Heath Ledger got the Joker part over Robin Williams (among others), now they all say that they ALWAYS thought he would be awesome. Truth is, he wouldn't be that bad. I can really see him as some washed-up prick in a boiler room who wants to torment kids.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

You know who would've made a badass joker? Dick Van Dyke. This is NOT a fucking joke.

I could see Englund being too old to play Human Freddy, but he's the only one who can play Real Freddy.

Bad Santa is NOT Freddy.

I think you have it backwards, Syd. Real Freddy is the only one Englund can play.

One time my best friend and I got in a discussion about who would replace Ledger's role as The Joker after his demise. I suggested Paul Giamatti (sp?) and he laughed, even though I was serious. Sad

Then he put a knife into my mouth. Surprised

Nicholson in my humble opinion was still the BEST JOKER EVER!!!
Heath Ledger was good, but never creeped me out the way Nicholson has as the Joker.

My personal favorite would be Mark Hamill's role as Joker in the cartoon (and several animated movies). His laugh was the best, without a doubt.

In my opinon, Hamill > Ledger > Nicholson.

I think Billy Bob Thornton would make a good Freddy.

I also like the Tim Burton movies better than the new ones.

Billy Bob Thornton is NOT signed as Freddy, so everyone can now go find another rumor to get uppity about.
