TAKE MY HAND, WE'LL GET THERE I SWEAR!!!!!!!!!!
In your grand opinion, what are the most overrated songs out there? I'd say anything by Floyd. There music is all the same, repetitive, and bland. Master of Puppets. It's a good song, but far from Metallica's best. I almost said 'Don't Stop Believing', but then I remembered JD singing it, and then there's the fact I got it cranking out from my speakers.

I don't know what it's like elsewhere, but around here they play Zeppelin fairly regularly on the radio, which sounds great in theory, BUT... fully 75% of the time... I'm all excited because I think I'm gonna hear some Zeppelin... and then it's freaking BLACK DOG.
That is the THIRD WORST song on that album. There are a MILLION Zeppelin songs better than Black Dog. But why they keep playing it... and playing it... it drives me NUTS.

It sounds like you've got it good. The classic rock station around here is a piece of shit. Lots of talking, tons of ads, tons of bumps and gay sound effects, etc. They play Hotel California, Wish You Were Here, Freebird, everything by Metallica, everything off of DSotM (They played the entire album three times in a row one day, what the fuck), Stairway to Heaven, Eruption, and any of those other songs that have been pounded into the ground.

its funny cause my brothers in-laws add another verse to it. i never heard of it and it tripped me and my brother out when they started singing it:
may the good lord bless you
may the good lord bless you
may the good lord bless [insert name here]
may the good lord bless you

Floyd is fantastic. And all there stuff does NOT sound the same. Listen to Ummagumma, Saucerful of Secrets, Echoes, Dark Side of the Moon, and Animals. Those are five VERY different albums. I will say that The Wall, The Final Cut, and Roger Waters' solo stuff all sounds very similar though.
As for overrated songs, "I Am The Walrus". Singing a bunch of random words you wrote down while while you were high isn't cool. Not even a little. Fuck this song ever harder because it seems to have inspired Kurt Cobain's writing style.

Of course they are. I've heard all of their albums, and own five. But Floyd isn't fantastic when they're played three times in a row on the same day.

I really never understood the song, but then again I never felt like I needed to.
I'm not sure if I would rate it as overrated though, because I don't think many people really rate it highly.

I wouldn't say he's overrated, but he's definitely not the drummer he use to be. If anything he's just a prick.
Pink Floyd is superb. If you take a step back and just think about their entire discography, they've come a long way in terms of different stages of musical transition. Basically, what Syd said.
In general, stuff on the radio is overrated. That's why it sells so well.

Sacrilege. For reals.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

Should i feel happy i never heard it then?
I'd have to say Elton John gets played way too often on the radio where i'm from. And i swear "Tears of a Clown" by Smokey R is played ever 3days. It's okay at first but when the damn carnival intro plays again after hearing it since yesterday, you'd kind of go crazy. The station also plays "Sweet Escape" or whatever that annoying song is called that Gwen Steffinai crapped out, which annoys the hell out of me. Not to mention "Straight up baby", "Girls want to have fun" and Sheryl Crow all in a row, which makes me beg them to play something masculine soon or i'll drive to the radio station and beat the crap out of the host (who's a guy, might i add) Also, I listen to a station that claims to never play repeats all day, I swear to jeebus that those bastards played the same Phil Collins song twice in one day (and no it wasn't "In the Air Tonight".) The station usually plays the same song tone after a week and become predictable, their a billions of songs out their, pick new ones damn it!!!
I've been listing to another station lately but the same shit is coming up. I'll admit, Nickelback has some good songs but after hearing the same one every week it gets mind numbing.
So yah, anything on the radio is overrated.

yeah what's his deal anyway, he always has this snobby complainy tinge to his voice every time I see footage of him. They made lots of money and left an awesome footprint in the path of metal history, why all the grump?

a) Don't you mean Meddle?
b) That's because starting with the Wall was the period that Roger Waters's head went way up his ass and never came out. Whereas on those other 5, the variation of styles was directly proportional to how far up his own ass Waters 'head was.
