Why do I get the impression that many people are not familiar with Joe Satriani?
So, have you heard Joe Satriani?
If you don't remember, then you haven't.
If you haven't, you should have.

Yeah, I have his album "Surfing with the Alien." I never grew big into his style, to be honest though. Great guitarist who knows how to pull off amazing solos, but I get kinda bored with it. To each his own, eh?

Surfing With The Alien is an amazing album, though the production is super dated.
Strange Beautiful Music is the perfect name for that album, it's so good.
Professor Satchifunkilus and the Musterion of Rock, his newest, isn't so bad.
I absolutely love Satch's style, how he playes a regular rock song with a guitar melody over top...and he writes amazing rockers and ballad tunes.

I had 'Flying In A Blue Deam' on tape, 'till it melted in my car on a hot day. I used to be able to play 'The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing', except for that one wicked hard part (you know what I mean).
Actually, I'm gonna check if it's on Napster right now.

He's not great at writing music, but he can play ANYTHING put his way. I saw he'd be much more of a rival for greatest ever if he could wright well.

Yeah, I fuckin love Satch, he taught Steve Vai how to play, and if there were no Steve Vai there would be no Bill and Ted, then there would be no Keanu, nor "The Matrix" and we would all be alot better off.

Satriani's tight. I've only heard a few of his songs, but they're pretty good. I wish he'd have taught Kirk Hammet to use the wah pedal less. Nonetheless, the man is a legend, deservedly so.

Satch is definitely up there.
Hey fellow axemen, anybody know how to do that high pitched noise he makes, the one where his hands are crossed over and he's pulling the whammy bar? Can't quite figure it out.

I'm gonna go with pinch harmonic with a crank on the whammy, kinda like Eddie Van Halen does all the time
