The draw is that WinAmp is that unlike bullshit software like iTunes or Windows Media Player, WinAmp doesn't rape the shit out of your RAM and leave it crying on the side of the road. WinAmp doesn't use very many resources, which means it plays well with programs that are resource intensive, like WinMX or MAME. And unless you fuck around with the equalizer, an mp3 sounds the same in any program, so there's no disadvantage to WinAmp.
