Why is it that in all of Mrs. Krabappel's appearances on The Simpsons since 1990, her voice actor, Marcia Wallace, is credited as a Special Guest Voice and not under Also Starring? What else has she done that's made her so special for the last 18 years and that I've somehow missed all this time?

Probably being in The Bob Newhart Show, doing a ton of TV, and having a good agent. Smile

Like how Heather Locklear was credited as a Special Guest Star for the entirety of her run on Melrose Place, despite becoming one of the show's main characters?

Probably. My guess is that with the "special guest star" contract she was paid more than the other principles.

Could be. According to Wikipedia:

"By early 1999, FOX decided that the ratings erosion as well as the extremely high production costs (it was said that they could have filmed an entire pilot just on Heather Locklear's salary) warranted cancellation."
