I'm sure I'm dropping the rock into the puddle with this one...

By chance is anyone excited for Epicon from Globus, the first commercial album release based on music created by Immediate Music?

You know, the music you hear in movie trailers and TV commercials that's not "borrowed" from another film or pop sensation?

For me, the most notable inclusion is 'Preliator"; a reworking of "Lacrimosa" (made famous by the Spider-Man 2 trailer). I love the rearrangement and this single track alone has me excited for the whole album (available in the US only through iTunes on July 24, album release in the UK).

I'll check it out later, when I have more time. But doesn't the band Enigma get used in a fair amount of trailers too?

I have no idea what to make of this album. They've taken music, given it epic treatment... but then they give almost every song some horrible pop lyrics and either a halfway decent female singer or a horrible, horrible male singer.

I like the music, but, boy, are these vocals getting on my nerves.

"Preliator" is easily the best track.... actually, I believe the lyrics are Latin. Thankfully, I have no idea what she's saying.

*Bump*

"Trailerhead" came out since this thread started and that got rid of the pop music lyrics and sound. However, some tracks sound worse than they did on Epicon.

Let me rant for a moment, Globus has had roughly 3 1/2 releases. There's Epicon the UK release, which is what this thread was about. There was an EP after they had a live concert, which was alright. They had an American release with less songs than the UK release, but at least you could get the physical CD in the states without importing it. Finally, Trailerhead which goes under a different band name, Immediate (after the parent company Immediate Music).

The problem with all these releases is that the mass majority of content is just revisions or different versions of previous songs from Epicon. "Orchard of Mines" has the UK album version, a radio edit, a live version, and then a new cover on Trailerhead.

I kinda wish they'd release an album that doesn't rehash previous releases and just gives us new songs -- or rather songs the album people haven't covered from the trailer versions.
