I always hear how no one from the cast of Seinfeld ever did anything worthwhile after the series ended. Which is mostly true, until I remembered Duckman, who Jason Alexander voiced. That show was hilarious, but I'm pretty sure it ran when Seinfeld was still on the air so...curse wins I guess.

Yeah, Duckman ran concurrent to Seinfeld. Seinfeld ran from 1989-1998, Duckman ran from 1994-1997

Julia Louis-Dreyfuss has supposedly broke the curse. Her sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine has garnered decent ratings and will begin its fourth season in September.

Well, there was Michael Richards' infamous appearance at the Laugh Factory...

I don't know if I'd call it a curse. Seinfeld is really a comedian first and an actor second. A lot of people use stand up as a way in. I think he found the success he was after and can now concentrate on his first love, stand up, as well as just live his life.

Jason Alexander may be cursed. Everytime he gets a new show, I always think it is funny. Maybe I'm the only one and thats why they all fail. But he has great comedic timing and is able to take anything and make it funny, IMO. For example, I thought Bob Patterson was great. His rivalry with William Shatner's character was great stuff. I didn't think Listen Up was that bad either.

I never really expected a whole lot from Michael Richards, because as good as he is, there is no way to avoid being typecasted after as many years he spent playing Kramer.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was actually the only one aside from Alexander that I figured would have any post-Seinfeld success. The New Adventures of Old Christine is really pretty good.

I was on IMDB and saw a really good idea that somebody suggested: The Seinfeld Curse Box Set with The Michael Richards Show, Watching Ellie, Bob Patterson, and Listen Up. I'd buy it.

Yeah, poor Jason Alexander, still making movies and getting tiny roles on stage like the lead in Mel Brooks's The Producers in LA... Rolling Eyes

Hey, we're talking about real entertainment here, not your fancy "theatre"!

Laughing But seriously, finding success is just as good as finding success on any other stage. For some, I suppose its even more rewarding. But I do think he got hosed with his sitcoms. But then again, I may just be more easily ammused than most.

All of those actors are so rich that they dont need to do anything. I know that Michael Richards is going to have a hell of a time finding work, Jason Alexander is a talented actor on Broadway and is finding some bit parts and JLD is still moderately attractive on her new not funny show. Now, I guess Seinfeld has been in some stinkers like Bee Movie, but his stand-up DVDs are good. There are certainly more misses than hits though.

EDIT: If you catch one of the Seinfeld DVDs, you can see the previous sitcom Jason Alexander was in, I think it was called "Its All Relative", and the clip they showed was horrific, but just like in Bosom Buddies, you could tell he was budding (pun intended) like Tom Hanks was.

Does the curse not apply to the writers? Larry David has enjoyed much success with "Curb Your Enthusiasm" I love Seinfeld, but the sitcom format is old. Curb is much better, and I think Larry David is a much more interesting character than Seinfeld, or George Costanza, who was based off him.

EDIT: not being a smart-ass.. just wondering the stipulations of the curse.

Well, if you think about it, almost any sitcom actor is just that- a sitcom actor. Their acting is either terrible, or it's that corny over-acting like in theater productions. With such types of acting, you're really stuck with either doing only sitcoms or cartoon voice-acting.

Yes, I know I used the word "acting" a lot, it annoyed me too.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Larry David left before the last season, IIRC.

Curses don't win awards was my point. And remember, I hate 98% of all sit-coms now. Wink
