I love throwing house parties. I bought my own DJing equipment more than a year ago so I would not spend money on hiring someone to play. I feel like i'm playing the same shit thought. Paul Oakenfold, Digitalism, Thomas Bangalter, Dj Dean, Dj Tiesto, Dj Mehdi, Justin Timberlake, Kavinsky, The Toxic Avenger etc.
Suggest some house party music.

Why don't you just get the soundtrack to "House Party"?
You know that movie with Kid N Play?

There were THREE sequels to House Party. But I'm pretty sure Kid N' Play weren't in the fourth one.
Also, I could have sworn this thread was about music for house parties, and yet, everything you listed was club music. Last time I checked, a house party was a party at a house. The kind where people walk around with big red cups filled with cheap beer, a Beirut tournament is held, keg stands are done, and you find people fucking on your bed even though you specifically asked everyone to stay out of your goddam bedroom.
If that's the type of party we're talking about, play anything and everything - rock, pop, rap, dance, techno, whatever. Most importantly, play whatever your guests like. And play at least a dozen songs that will make drunk girls scream "Omigod, I *love* this song!" But you don't need to go so heavy on the club music. A house party isn't typically about dancing; it's about socializing.

I've always found that the Beastie Boys make for great party music, even to people who don't normally enjoy Hip Hop. "Licensed to Ill" and "Hello Nasty" are their most suited albums in that regard.

anything loud that people will recognize is ok.
it can be radio hits from the 80's 90's and this decade and people will like it. and if you heard some shit somewhere that you thought was good for a party, ask some of your friends what they think before you throw the party, so that way you can include some underground/obscure hits or remixes.

I ain't fuckin biased against hip hop. Put on Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique and play it through (although make sure you skip the first track). Run-DMC's Raising Hell will probably help too.
And when you're tired and want to kick everybody out of the house: SLAYER!

Nah, put on some Pat Boone or James Taylor. If they don't leave, they'll at least fall asleep.
That, or play Skid Row's "Get The Fuck Out"

Needs AC/DC, the ultimate raise-your-plastic-beer-cup-and-bellow-along band.
And yeah, anything with a singable chorus, see 'Run's House' by Run-DMC

i cant stand listening to ac/dc in a big crowd. i was at a concert not too long ago and hells bells came on. it was terrible. people trying to sing along and air guitar and raise fists. im not saying people cant like good bands but, its just really awkward. its like people now adays need to broadcast their love for ac/dc. the weird thing is i dont see that with other classic bands.

I think the Justin Timberlake he mentioned already fills that qualification. DJ clue is notorious for being the most annoying DJ ever, but he always has "New SHIT, DJ CLUE CLUE" plus its just as fun to watch Running Scared and drink everytime some one swears, turned that into a drinking game we were messed up before it even got started. Oh yea but back to music...
Take the oldest person you know whos going to be there take the year they were born and add 3 to it. Your music selection should be anything from that year to present.

I'm MUCH too lazy to put any sort of effort into what my guests have to listen to. I pretty much jsut put my entire itunes library on shuffle and if someone has something better to listen to, let them put it on. after a while people are too drunk to even notice the music until it stops and someone says "hey what happened to the music", in which case they put something one.

its actually "NEW SHIT [x2] [insert two random rappers here]"
NEW SHIT NEW SHIT DMX NAS
and if its DMX rapping, he has to bark and say WHAT!?! like 20 times in the same song.
and if its Big Pun he has to be out of breath every 20 seconds.

Well, personally I haven't been to a "frat" type party with the kegstands and whatnot in a couple years, but I always disliked the fact that they never played anything but the Pop hits and techno, even friends that generally dislike that stuff would play it for parties.. I also do not have a vagina, so i realize my opinion has no weight.

Well my opinion on music is definitely more valid because I don't have a vagina, but in the context of a party, the host will often cater to the women in the hopes of keeping them around.

GHB keeps them around too. And you don't have to listen to it.
