The Carpenters had a way better version of 'Please Mr. Postman'. The Marvelettes and the Beatles had nothing on them.

I found that the only person who can properly cover John Lennon while giving it the respect it deserves is Ozzy. I suggest everyone buy Undercover for his covers of 'In My Life', 'Woman', and especially 'Working Class Hero'. They aren't necessarily better, but damn close.

I agree. But most people in the US probably haven't heard it.

Cindy and Bert's German version of Black Sabbath's Paranoid " Der Hund Von Baskerville". Although, not a true cover.

Kinda weird how I Fought the Law worked for a while. It seemed like the covers were getting better over the years. The Bobby Fuller Four cover was good, The Clash version was excellent, Colin Farell's was abysmal, and Green Day's version sounded like pure crap. The Clash version is easily the best.

It was good, but if you want to get technical, it's not exactly the same song, as DK changed the lyrics around. Still awesome, though.

The Blood Brothers "Under Pressure" Wonderful cover because they didn't try to imitate queen, but made it their own. (readying myself for all the internet feces to be flung in my direction for this one)

It wasn't really queen. It was a collabo of Bowie and Mercury.

Vanilla Ice's cover of that song is questionable at best.

I'll agree with that, though like most pop-punk bands, most of their songs really sound like.

It's credited as Queen and David Bowie.
I think you're thinking of "Dancing in the Streets", which was Bowie and Jagger, not Bowie and The Rolling Stones.

I always thought it was just Mercury and Bowie with the queen musicians providing the music or something.

Another good clash cover is "Rudie Cant Fail" by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

I'm sorry, but no one should ever have covered that song. Rudie Can't Fail is a classic; the Clash at their best.

All of that album is easily better than most music out there. Extra points because the real die-hard punk girls love dancing to Jimmy Jazz for some reason.

Amen. London Calling was the shit.

They aren't everybody's thing. They're hardly punk...only in the sense that they started that way.
They're easily my favorite band, but I can understand that not everyone loves them as much as I do.

Why has nobody said Guns N' Roses yet? Well, I guess I can understand why. The originals of both Knockin' On Heaven's Door and Live and Let Die are amazing. But the GNR versions are at least equal IMO.
Also the covers from The Spaghettie Incident? are underrated (or maybe I just think they're better than they really are from a personal bias).

For some reason, I just never got Guns and Roses. I've always disliked high-pitched vocals, and Slash's style just gets old on my nerves after a while. Not bashing your tastes, I understand why people like them, but just not for me.
