Anyone get a chance to hear this album? What do you think of it? Does anyone enjoy Del? Does anyone care?

Anyways, I heard a few songs off of the album like "Bubble Pop" and "Foot Down" and it's some solid Del, but I need to hear more. I kinda liked Deltron 3030 a little better, but that may be that it was produced by Dan the Automator, but I'd still give Eleventh Hour a chance in my CD player.

I love the older Del stuff, but I was disappointed in Eleventh Hour. He can still rhyme with the best of them, but the production was underwhelming for the most part. As I understand it, he produced most if not all of the album himself. He needs to hook up with someone like Madlib, Blockhead (his remix of Foot Down is a lot better than the original) or Danger Mouse for an entire album. Now that'd be something to get excited about...

I'm analyzing Eleventh Hour right now and would have to agree that it is a little disappointing, but I think that may be because, like you said, he produced most of the stuff on his own. So I still have to give him props for a solid solo album. Multiple artists collaborating always make a better album IMO, the combining of styles makes the music more dimensional and dynamic. I haven't heard any Madlib, but the name sounds familiar. As for collaborations with Del, I'd say Del and Busdriver would make a good duo.

My bad, I thought you were literally telling me that there is "no need for alarm," I'm glad we could clear this up.

Madlib is a producer and rapper with several other aliases such as Quasimoto (his rap personality), Beat Konducta, and Yesterday's New Quintet (psuedo jazz ensemble). He has produced tracks for underground emcees like Percee P and Aloe Blacc, but also more established artists like De La Soul and Ghostface Killah. He also has a ton of strictly instrumental albums out, but he is perhaps best known for his collaboration album with MF DOOM called Madvillainy. It's widely regarded as a classic album among underground rap fans. His album with Talib Kweli, called Liberation is also excellent. Those are good starting points if you're interested...
