People always tell me I should listen to Dimmu Borgir. I have $30 worth of iTunes dollars from my birthday that I still haven't used, so what are some good songs of theirs to download?

Or, he could get those AND Dimmu Borgir.
DB is pretty cool. My favorite album would have to be Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia.
The songs "Architecture of a Genocidal Nature" and "Maelstrom Mephisto" own me.

I would check some of their music out first. Look them up on MySpace or YouTube. If you like them, go for it. If not, you won't have wasted any money.

And Bathory. Don't forget that Bathory was a huge part of the first wave of Black Metal, along with the three you mentioned.
EDIT: And Hellhammer, if you're going to get Celtic Frost.

The Duhks... Even though that's light, feathery folk stuff... I also completely forgot about them until I was reviewing my "want list" playlist.
I've never heard of Dimmu Borgir (to my knowledge), but buying random stuff on iTunes has usually been good to me.

I would have put Bathory on that list, if the only Bathory album on iTunes wasn't Blood, Fire, Death

Whoa! Dimmu Borgir is quite simply the second best Black Metal band around (the best being Old Man's Child). You should definitely listen to the album Death Cult Armageddon.
