This is dumb. I can't believe anyone would make a big deal out of this.

Also, why did this article mention Fred Armisen playing Steve Jobs? He's a white dude, right?

Fred hated "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"... That's pretty much all I know about him.

But he was on Lazlow which makes him cool in my book. Cool Go Fred Armisen! Go!

See, this is why I hate the far left.

This is the typical far left reaction to comedy:

Oh my stars! That could have *possibly* offended someone!
I wonder if anyone was offended.
Was anyone offended?
Someone must have been offended.
*I* would have been offended if I was the one being satirized.
Wait a second, I *am* offended... I think.
I am!

On a sort-of-related topic, What do you guys think about Obama not putting his hand over his heart during the National Anthiem?

http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Obama_doesnt_put_hand_over_heart_1022.html

My mom told me about this last night. If people were going to flip over that one Steelers game where they skipped the Anthem, shouldn't people be jumping all over this? Am I missing something?

Yeah, the far left can be pretty ridiculous.

I never put my hand over my heart. Fact is, I never stand for the national anthem either. so it doesnt bother me in any way shape or form

Apparently, it's only partly true: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp

There have been instances where he has and instances where he hasn't.

Honestly, before this story broke, I don't think I ever heard of this. You put your hand over your heart while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. For the National Anthem, you stand and be silent. If you're wearing a hat, you remove it, and hold it over your heart with your hand. At least, that's the way it's always done at local sporting events.

Furthermore, alarmist accusations against Obama such as the one that he's a "radical Muslim" or that he "will not recite the Pledge of Allegiance" are completely false: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp

What kind of test is the National Anthem test?

We need to put ALL the candidates through the Kobayashi Maru!!!!! Twisted Evil

Well, one thing is true.

Fred Armisen is probably the best on SNL right now. And I had such high hopes for Amy Pohler after UCB Crying

But what about this:

http://www.usflag.org/uscode36.html#171

ยง171. Conduct during playing
During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should render the military salute at the first note of the anthem and retain this position until the last note. When the flag is not displayed, those present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed there

No, we need to put them through The Eliminator, followed by an interview with Hulk Hogan.

And yeah, Fred Armisen is pretty awesome. I'm also a big fan of Darrell Hammond. Despite the fact that he's like 80, he's still the best impressionist they've got.

Or the Aggro Crag from Guts.

Darrell Hammond is pretty cool and has been on the air forever. I mean, didn't he start when Will Farrell started? Chris Parnell was also one of my favorites. Everyone needs to see Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, by the way.

I was always taught that you could either stand with hand over heart during the anthem or hands behind your back which ever you prefer. All these non-issues are annoying as hell

I think of myself as a member of the left, but come on. If it was a black man playing the role of a white person, I can promise you none of the left would complain.

I don't think most people on the left are offended by that. It's the *far* left that tries to turn stupid things like this into issues. The far left are comprised of unreasonable crazies who are hypersensitive and want to make sure that no one ever does anything that might somehow offend a minority, even if that minority is registered sex offenders. Most importantly, you can't EVER mention religion, because you might offend someone of a different religion. The far right is equally, but in different ways. They work on the assumption that everyone should be Christian and every other word out of theirs mouths is "Jesus".

And going to your example, no one did complain when Dave Chapelle played the white news anchor on Chapelle Show. Probably because it was awesome.
