He thinks he can beat God in a fight, according to the original plot of The Final Frontier.

I thought the origonal plot of Final Frontier was that the Enterprise ends up caught in the middle of a battle between God's army of angels and Satan's army of demons. And I'm pretty sure Kirk didn't side with Satan.
Then again, he DID like killing stuff a lot.

I dunno, I-Mockery did a short write up on Final Frontier not too long ago and according to them (Max Burbank specifically) Shatner's version had him run into not a god like entity, but God himself and Kirk had to fight him and actually won.
Here's a bit of it:
Quote: |
To start with, the Shat's original premise wasn't about a powerful alien masquerading as God. It was Kirk vs. God. And nobody could get the Shat to believe that a movie where Kirk went up against the lord almighty and handed him his omnipotent ass would be found... well, offensive by a lot of folks. He did eventually accept that absolutely no one was going to make that movie and backed off the idea that the baddy was authentically God, but he never did and still won't admit he was wrong. |

I remember a special feature on the collector's edition DVD of the movie said that the original ending had Kirk fighting rock monsters, not God himself.

Well, they talk about that too, God was supposed to summon lava men to fight Kirk, but the special effects budget got eaten up just trying to do test footage.

Cause when I trust facts about a movie they come from a pop culture parody website (like... SydLexia.com ). Most appalling is that right from the start I-Mockery screwed up by stating the rating of the film as PG-13. It was PG. Normally this wouldn't bug me, but sense I went looking for their website for its accuracy, it wasn't a good first impression. And worse, they did not cite a single source.

Sources are for boring people without creativity.

Hey, I never said they were credible, just pointed to what they had said. And having heard that Shatner has a huge ego and tries to make everything Star Trek related that he can get his hands on as Kirk-centric as possible, it sounded plausible. Keep in mind that really the only contributors to that site whose articles I don't usually just attempt to read then ignore when it gets boring or nonsensical are RoG and Protoclown's (and even saying that, we all know I have no love for Protoclown's work at times.) Burbank's articles could be full of errors constantly, but I wouldn't know, I just read The Final Frontier entry because it was up there at the top of the page with other shorts at the time.

Well, I'm a Wil Wheaton fan, and his WFS story kind of stuck with me. So I don't think I'd want to be involved in anything he does, unless he appologizes to Wil.

Ditto. Wil Wheaton's kind of a douchebag from what I've heard and seen on reality game shows.

"Games of Our Lives" . It basically only covers Atari games though, and there hasn't been a new entry in years.
