My dad is a huge fan of The Shield. I've seen some episodes and it's quite enjoyable.

I tried to watch the shield, and it was ok, but I just could not get over the fact that the guy from "The Commish". It's my own narrow type-casting imagination, I just see him do something crooked, and it's like.....What are you doing "The Commish"?!

One of my friends wants to watch the series finale of The Wire on TV. Out in L.A., he is unable to do so (he's been watching them online).
My suggestion: Rent a cheap motel room for one night. Pretty much all motels get HBO. Not a bad idea IMO.

I'm a big fan of the Wire, and I'm sad it's almost done.
The Shield had me for a while, but there's only so much "I'm a badass cop, watch me do illegal things" I could watch.
The only shows I watch anymore are HIMYM, Lost, and The Wire. And sports, of course.

I just wanted to say that the wire is one of the best (if not the best) TV shows I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Very well written scripts with outstanding characters and plots that are second to none. I'm also really bummed out that it came to an end. HBO will be hard pressed to find a replacement for it. If you're on the fence for whatever reason, I would highly recommend walking through that garden.

If I don't start watching something from the get go, I won't watch it until I can get the seasons and play catch up. I've heard great things about TheWire, and actually did see a few episodes of The Shield. I've been meaning to watch both, but haven't got the chance yet. With so many other shows I am currently watching, its hard to find time for them all.
Right now I'm watching NYPD Blue season 1. I don't know why, I'm just gonna get really pissed when I get through season 4 and those jerkoffs haven't released any more seasons yet. I heard it was due to poor sales, but I'm sure I can count a lot of crap shows that have complete series out that can't possibly do any better in sales. I really forgot how much they pushed the envelope back then. "Asshole", "Son of a Bitch", "GD (I think, maybe not", "dick", "prick", the whole side of a tit, sans the nerp, and several asses. This is all in the first season. I watched it when it was on, but I guess its a little worse than I remember. I guess its bad enough that if they show reruns of it during the day (marathons and such), it has to be edited. If you want it uncut, it has to be on after 9, I think.

Never seen The Wire, but The Shield is fucking awesome. I love Macky's strong-arm, practically criminal tactics to get shit done. It watches like Training Day the TV show, or something similar.

I'm in that boat. I rarely join a show in medias res. Although, three shows I broke that rule with: 24, Boston Public, and Boston Legal... I probably should be more open to jumping in, but, eh.

I did it with 24. I played catch up while watching season 4.
