Okay, maybe not complete crap. But get this: it's so thin that it doesn't even contain a CD/DVD drive. And yet what comes with it? iDVD and install/restore DVDs.

You know, for decoration.

Sure, you can buy an external superdrive separately, but doesn't that defeat the entire damn point?

I kinda wish I could afford to get it. It'd make writing on the go a bit easier. Of course, how would I go about installing Final Draft on here? ... Wait, my FD license is only for two computers anyway...

Wait, what's this from the apple webpage?

That becoming all too common nowadays. So you make a super lightweight, portable computer; awesome. But by the time that you pack in your external drives (because the computer only has limited disk space, and/or no optical drive), extra battery (Because the super tiny one they put in only get 2 hours of runtime.), power cable, external mouse (Because, really, who uses that little touch pad?), external 10-key (Because laptops never have them.), disks etc, how portible it is really?

Again, it depends what you want to do. Why do you need the extra disc space when 160 GB is already more than you need. The mouse is nice, but hardly a necessity. That extra keypad is completely useless. I currently use USB drives more than any other storage transfer device (second is gmail). That's how I brought over what songs I wanted to from my desktop to the laptop. Just like the old iMacs that didn't have a floppy drive, we all saw the errors of our ways and upgraded for the better.

Now, is USB technology good enough yet to begin phasing out the disc drives? Hardly. But I think this new laptop is being sold more for the people who really have to travel. While commuting to L.A. I saw plenty of people on laptops at the airport and on the plane who weren't messing with all those accessories. This is the target market for this product and they can afford to change laptops. As I said, if I were... Akiva Goldsman (besides shooting myself in the head) I'd probably pick up one of these.

Plus, photographers would really love this product. With Aperture and the USB slot, this would be great to upload and send out.

I'm fine with my IBM R52. All I have to do is throw more memory in it, and I'll be set laptop-wise, since all I use it for is surfing the internet and other non-intensive shit. I just wish that I had another battery, since the one on here only lasts for about an hour. But I guess that's what happens when you have it on outlet power most of the time.
