It's the reason they're still making video games in the world.

Thirded on DarkMaze's comments.

You know those are reruns, right? It originally aired on Nickelodeon during the Sega/Nintendo era.

Too bad the kids sucked at the games...

There was an episode of Nick Arcade that had Melissa Joan Hart playing Sonic 2. She can't play the game if the world depended on it, AND THIS WAS ON THE FIRST LEVEL OF EMERALD HILL.

Her life DID depend on it. That's why you only see her in reruns of Sabrina: The Teenage Witch these days.

I'd still stick it in her poon.

There was nothing better than watching other kids muck around on the Video Game Challenge. They would spend the first 5 of the given 30 seconds for the Wizard's Challenge just by having their character stand around.

Video Power > Nick Arcade

The only problem is that Video Power wasn't nearly as popular as Nick Arcade was. I think I mentioned it on the forums at some point before, but it was essentially a show where kids squared off against one another in real video games. Highest cumulative score got the grand prize...

..TO RUN THROUGH A FUCKING MAZE OF VIDEO GAMES PICKING THEM OFF THE WALLS TO KEEP.

I'd STILL do that shit if that show were on the air. Plus I know I'm far better at Castlevania 2 than the average 12 year old. The maze would be mine.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us.

In Canada, we had Video & Arcade Top Ten, hosted in the later season by the charismatic Nicholas Picolas. There was also a show where the final round involved the contestant running through a green screen platformer, collecting items while avoiding enemies.
