Has anyone watched this? I've managed to catch a few minutes (because i am a TV masacist that 'loves' reality shows) and i have to say some of the bands are good but they all lose points with me because they are ON A REALITY SHOW!
Most of the great bands of the past are great because they rose from nothing. The show is basically American idol but it's kindof like American band stand too. I absolutely hate the judges. I've got nothing against the homeboy from Western New York, but the 'Paula' and 'Simon' rip offs have nothing interesting to say and are a waste of time, space, money and air. But here is the big thing that pisses me off about these reality shows:
The only people who vote during this shit are underage girls who have calesses from texting every damn minute, which is why 'Light of Doom' is still in the competition. In other words, the majority of people who vote will vote in bands i don't care for and kick off the ones that are actually good.
I tire of reality shows, but watching this show has given me an idea, why not bring back American Band Stand or the Midnight Special AND show the bands with not judges and little advertisement during the show. Does M-TV even do something like this anymore, since i can't get the channel, i'm just curious of what they do show now.
And now i close this Rant to give a shout out to the world:
If anyone out there is tired of Reality Shows that Mirror AI to the point of almost making you vomit, please, please, for the sanity of Jeebus, DON'T VOTE! Watch the show all you want but don't vote. Maybe the networks will realize how much this shit is clichés and deserves to end! We must defiantly obliterate this crap from our air waves . . .
ONCE AND FOR ALL!!! PEACE OUT AND ROCK ON!!!!!!!

All band competitions are crap.
When my band in High School was in a "Battle of The Bands" the winner was this shitty "NKOTB" wannabe band, whose lead singer, just happened to be the event organizers son! Everyone agreed that either our band, "The Nicks" should have won, or another band we were friends with, "Ultra Blue".
And, the greatest travesty in band competitions: Primus lost the San Demas battle of the bands to Wyld Stallyns.

My apologizes. Half of this rant was mostly because of the appending writer's strike, after reading different articles predicting the aftermath of the strike, many saying reality shows may take over the airwaves, which would also means good shows will only be showing re-runs or nothing at all, I watched america's next greatest band recently and if this kind of thing becomes the norm for the airways because of the strike, then the networks might as well kick their keesters goodbye. As one article pointed out, unlike the strike in 1988, people have the internet now.

You don't have to worry. The industry has too many dependents working for it for scripted shows to ever get completely shafted*. However, the reason why we have reality shows is for exactly this reason. After a strike or scare of one earlier than 1988**, reality shows were seen as a solution to the very problem we're facing now.
Of course, reality shows like "Trading Spaces", "Rachel Ray", and whatever's on Animal Planet exist because there's a stronger market for it than what Joe Millionaire can deliver***. Then again, there's not as many complaints for Animal Planet's lineup. And I believe Syd is still offering big money for Rachel Ray's head.
*Not counting the current strike.
**I'm not making this up, however, I don't have the sources in front of me, so please excuse the lack of an exact date. Feel free to post the actual source.
***I have not checked ratings to see if this is correct, I'm just using common sense. Feel free to prove me wrong.

Ah yes, i remember the Ray's Head had a price on it by Syd. So what about the bands on this show? I think Franklin Bridge is good and Dot Dot Dot is growing on me, they remind me of the 80s music nobody today seems to like. Rocket sucks though, I'm glad their gone and Light of Doom is only one because the majority of views are underage girls with cell phone addictions.
So any thoughts?

They should put on improv comedy shows to fill the strike. At least bring back "Who's Line"...
Agreed! And make Bob Barker the host of Who's Line!

That would be AWESOME! I hope they put comedy shows on. At least even the mildly entertaining comedies are watchable.

So i gave the show another chance this week and the cover theme was Queen.
I have two favorite queen songs: Another one bits the dust and we will rock you. And anyone who dares f*ck up those two receive my venomous rage.
The Hanson like band Light of Doom covered we will rock you and . . . they sucked. I don't mean they suck at covering the song, but they sucked at a level unmatch by an others. And what pissed me off the most was their rendition of the Rock you guitar solo was lack and flat, if not non-existence AND when they did their original, there guitars sounded amped enough to do the solo now. I'll post a video of Light of Doom when youtube has one so you can bask in the shittyness. I am reminded why i hate this show now . . . and the only band i was appraising is kicked off anyway.
I listened to the original rock you afterwards and my faith in music was restored.

That kid's actually got a decent voice, too bad he doesn't understand things like emotion and tempo. I at least agree with the judges. The music sounded like a bunch of ameteurs got together and really quickly slapped something together, then some punk started singing along.

"Denver and the Mile High Orchestra" are okay and what i mean by that is, they don't suck like Light of Doom. They also remind me of Richard Cheese and lounge against the machine:
