I just watched the pilot and it met all my expectations. The only bad thing I can say about it is that it didn't exceed them. It's definitely a monster of the week show and it'll take a more humerous tone than some other shows like it. I loved Ray Wise as the Devil, he's perfect.
I see why Kevin Smith was hired to direct the pilot, there's a lot of thematic similarities to his work. I kinda wish he did write it, but it's nice to see he can direct other people's work too. That'll come in handy when we get his "Origins" episode. Also, again we see that Smith can direct action! And it still pisses me off he dropped out of Green Hornet. Oh well...

Reaper is something i can get into, look at my sig for evidence of how much i want to see that show. the only down side is that Reaper is on during House and no new show is keeping me from House. I don't have Tivo or any means of recording so i'll have to pray someone posts episode of Reaper on youtube.

You could probably join a TV Torrent site.
And I like "House M.D." too, but for the last three years I've only sporadically watched episodes. It isn't really a must see every episode drama for me. Oh well, good times are had when I do watch it.

House is a great medical drama, but the outside story arcs are often lacking.
The whole thing where Chi McBride "bought" the hospital in the first season was absolutely fucking terrible. None of the other outside arcs have been as bad or as stupid as that, but the thing with David Morse came a little close at points. This was particularly disappointing to me, because McBride and Morse are both awesome actors.

I'm hooked on the show mainly because the medical drama is interesting. However now that the show is threating to cut Jennifer Morrison off, the show better deliver more then just the medical drama. I know you mentioned that House's original team will be back before the season is done Syd, but we shall see.
And you're right about McBride and Morse's role one the show. If the show really wants to give House an antagonist, it should be a rival Doctor that is at his level of genius AND has a better life. Then the twist towards the end of the season could be that this better life is not all sunshine and puppy dogs and House uses this to win and crush his opponent. Whooah! I think i came up with season five right there

A Minnassota Fats character would be better if House completely failed to justify his own flawed existance by pointing out the flaw of his equal/better. This could shock him into character development.

No thank you. We would end up creating
A: Complete garbage, not worth the kilobytes it takes on the internet.
B: A mediocre character that slashficcers would latch onto, bringing even more Yaoi into this world.
I could not be part of such an endeavor, considering the consequences.

Just saw a commerical for it that reminded me that Ray Wise plays the devil, so I'm gonna try to remember to watch this and give it a chance now.

Yeah, Reaper got double boned tonight because "Boston Legal" ran a half hour earlier for it's premiere and those random "House" fans who want to know what House will do without a staff. On the plus side, CW will rerun the pilot later this week a couple of times.

Hate to say it, but I hated this show. Ray Wise is great, but the "Jack Black clone" totally sucked, the writing was awful, and the tongue-in-cheek parts were way too forced. It reminded me of a less funny, less clever knock-off of Buffy. I'll pass and focus on Pushing Daisies for my death-related humor.

It might have been the three month non-stop seven season Buffy-a-thon I had, but "Reaper" didn't remind me of "Buffy" at all.
Ray Wise is not Giles.
Sock is not Xander.
Ben is not Xander.
Andi is not Angel/Cordelia
Josie is not Willow.
Demons are not vampires or witches. The tone is different, lighter. Gone is the Hammer Horror-isms. The pilot played completely different from "Welcome to the Hell Mouth". I know a few critics say they're similar, but the reason is because of the network and the funny monster show. There ends the parallels.

I meant more in the fact that it was trying to be tongue-in-cheek and be purposefully hipper while still doing the "cheesy demon thing". Buffy did it well. Reaper...not so much.
It just seems like recycled jokes and recycled cliches.

I've fallen behind on "Reaper", but I've been describing the show as very "Ghostbusters" in tone.
Seriously, Ray Wise is fantastic.

Yes. j/k
I'm not a fan simply because there are just too many "this guy is so DUMB and that's the whole premise" sitcoms (with and without laugh tracks) and I'm burned out from them. I'm more into smart comedies like Arrested Development and How I Met Your Mother.
Plus, as much as everyone loves to suck the knob of Kevin Smith, I think his stuff sucks.

I like reaper because of the "At work" scenes. That's pretty much EXACTLY how my store operates.
