A fucking midget has the Cruiserweight Championship.
Not only that, he's billed as a "leprechaun".

Since Gregory Helms is injured, they had to do something. It's obvious the Smackdown writers have no idea what a cruiserweight division is all about. Helms held the belt longer than anyone in history, not because he's the best cruiserweight, but because they didn't know what else to do with it.
Don't get me wrong, Helms is a good wrestler, but he pales to his WCW "Sugar Shane" formerself, and that's not his fault. It's because the WWE won't let him use half of his arsenal. The Vertebraker was still one of the best finishers in history.
Sigh...
I wish TNA would hurry up and get big enough to bring back another Monday Night War, so we could get some quality wrestling again.
Helms, before he was neutered:

And yet, we still keep watching.
Though I am somewhat excited for the return of the Hart Foundation, barring Teddy getting himself fired from the farm league.

Personally I respect the fact that the WWE has a ban on certain moves. To me, it shows that they care about their employees more so than "looking cool".

Did you know the piledriver has been banned from the WWF/E since 1983?
Yet it was still used up through the 90s.
Piledrivers are generally considered to be one of the more dangerous maneuvers in wrestling because of the impact on the head and compression of the neck; if even slightly botched, the move can cause serious injury, even paralysis. A standard kayfabe piledriver properly done has the head barely touching the ground, if at all.
Therefore a standard piledriver and its closely resembling variants are banned in World Wrestling Entertainment, although they are still used on rare occasions. It is also considered an automatic disqualification in pro wrestling matches held in Memphis, Tennessee, as the move is banned in that city. (Ironically Jerry Lawler uses a piledriver as one of his finishing moves.) In some promotions in the United Kingdom, the move can result in not only a disqualification, but a fine. In Mexico, the piledriver (called a "Martinete") is an automatic disqualification and wrestlers usually act as if their neck is broken. "Martinete" generally refers to tombstone piledrivers, but it is also used for other variations.

I know more about wrestling that you could imagine... I've been watching pro wrestling for probably 15 years... not only WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA, etc. and mixed martial arts: AFC, Pride, etc.

22 years here. I remember my 1st time watching wrestling: WRESTLEMANIA I in 1985. I was 6 years old.
I finally got to attend my 1st live Wreslemania 18 years later at Wrestlemania XIX.
I have been to 5 WWF/E House Shows
2 Raws
1 Smackdown
1 Vengence PPV
I have also seen hundreds of PNW* and PW* events.
I bleed wrestling, almost as much as I bleed computers.
*Pacific Northwest Wrestling, which was later bought out and changed to Portland Wrestling.

I believe my earliest memory is Hogan vs Warrior at Mania 3.

You mean Wrestlemania VI?
III was Hogan vs Andre.
VI was Hogan vs Warrior.

It was around '85, so whichever is closer. Memory's not so good anymore.

As I recall, the piledriver was semi-banned again after Owen Hart injured Stone Cold with one, in that people weren't allowed to use them against Austin after that. Then after the Droz injury, the WWF really started cracking down on safety, which is why the Undertaker stopped doing the Tombstone for a few years.
I don't think TNA is planning on running against RAW quite yet, but they are getting a 2 hour timeslot this fall. They are also in talks with FOX. They may be moving from Spike to FOX, or they may end up running programs on both networks.

TNA is finally starting to learn.
I really hope the best for TNA, just so it will raise the bar for pro westling in general. Right now, Vince is just putting on what he wants to watch, not what the people want to watch. Why? Because he can. Because he knows that since his is "the only show in town" people will watch it.
TNA started out like that, since the Jarretts (Jeff and his Dad) own half the company. I loved the wrestling, but hated the fact that Jeff Jarrett was putting himself has champion for far too long. He finally stepped back and is now letting the other guys get a chance.

I have no clue what my first memory is of wrestling... I don't want to bother digging that deep... as for events I've been to:
House Show in 2002 (where Batista knocked out Randy Orton... for 20 minutes!) We met Edge & Lance Storm just outside a gym close to the arena... we got some autographs, but no pictures as we were too star struck to remember that we ALL had cameras in the car!
No Way Out in 2003 (where they first introduced Sylvain Grenier, as a referee, and I said that must be a new draft... he was wrestling the following week) We also watched Fozzy live the night before the PPV... Edge also attended the concert, as we could see him through a window on the second floor of the venue, assuming Chris' dressing room or something.

New Pro Wrestling sucks my ass. I like old school wrestling when bad guys were bad guys and good guys were good guys. Where the line between good and evil was clearly defined. I dont like all this new melodramatic BS they show on TV.
My last memory of wrestling was a really long TLC match between the (i cant even remember what their names are) but basically one of the guys got on a huge ladder to get the belt and it was pushed over and he fell thru like 10 tables. That was exciting.
Anyhow, more into MMA now. Boxing has kind of died down for me too. Not enough title matches and whatever title matches they do show, they are too far apart in the calendar year for people to care much.

I saw numerous event during high school and college, but the one I remember the most is being there at Chris Jericho's WWF debut on August 9, 1999.

Jarrett was annoying as champion, but I don't think it was simple egotism that motivated him to have the title.
When you start up a new fed, you really need to have a heel champion, and Jarrett fit the bill perfectly. He's good in the ring and he's god at being the cocky hatable jackass, so he was great for the role.
That's what they did with Triple H too, and the first time it kind of worked. But there was too much talking and the reign was too long. Also, Triple H is less entertaining and charismatic than Jarrett. Triple H gives long boring droning monlogues that run from commercial break to commercial break whereas Jarrett couldn't bother with such things due to his company's limited weekly time.
I will say this though, both men seem to have passed the torch and I respect both of them for doing so. In his last WWE run before injury, HHH pretty much stayed away from the belts, opting instead to feud with Vince and Shane. Meanwhile Jarrett had taken himself off TV indefinitely so that he can better attend to the business end of TNA.

I was going to make a new topic, but I figured it'd be just as well to post this here.
Since McMahon dropped the whole Whodunit angle, he's now doing a Whoisit angle. It's alleged that someone on the roster is his illegitimate love child. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pulling for HHH. That would just be damn hilarious.

Supposedly it's going to be Ken Kennedy.
I liked when McMahon claimed he lost his virginity at 12 and that his illegitimate child literally could be ANYONE on the roster, then Flair tapped him on the shoulder and started yelling "Woo!" over and over again.
Also, I fucking HATE Santino Marella. Here's a guy who barely deserves to be a cruiserweight and they gave him the fucking IC belt right off the bat. He's covered in ugly ass tattoos and his fake ass Italian accent is painful to listen to. And now that his brief IC title run is over, he's been jobbed out like there's no tomorrow. Now I'm not saying that they shouldn't have made him a should, because they should have... he sucks and should die. But they should have never given him the IC belt. His title reign cheapers the belt and it guarantees him indie bookings when they finally fire his ass. COMING SOON TO YOUR LOCAL CIVIC CENTER, SEE FORMER WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION SANTINO MARELLA TAKE ON ERNEST "THE CAT" MILLER! IT'S INTENNNNNSE!!!!!!
Also, I hate Umaga. Oh look, it's some fatass loser who used to be an unimpressive midcarder repackaged as an unstoppable monster and covered in stupid henna tattoos and even stupider real ones. The only cool thing about Umaga was his manager, Mr. Estrada, but he's long gone.

At the last Monday night Raw, they also taped the Saturday Night's Main Event. Which, goes further into the "Who's My Kid?" Angle. In fact they have some Superstars come out in front of Vince, and tease him that he could be thier father. I am not going to spoil it for anyone who doesn't want to know before hand, but there is going to be a nice surprise at the end of the show, with a wrestler making a return just to fuck with Vince.
