Metallica died when Cliff died, in my opinion. Kill 'Em All was great, Ride the Lightning is a masterpiece, Master of Puppets was pretty good-but fantastically overrated-and it all went downhill after September 27th, 1986. I didn't even like And Justice For All..., as there was no bass in the mix and the songs were unnecessarily long. I hated the Black Album. The last three, well, they speak for themselves. Garage Inc.'s good, but that doesn't count because that's a covers album. (Good save for the Misfits covers. I love the Misfits, but Hetfield cannot sing Danzig's parts.)



And the "Napster Bad!" videos were great, man. "Metallicops" was my favorite.

I personally don't care for "One".

In my opinion, it can't live up to Metallica's previous slow songs, Fade to Black and Welcome Home (Sanitarium).

Megadeth's newer stuff's pretty good, The System Has Failed's been in constant rotation in my car's CD player, and I'll be buying United Abominations later this week. I did prefer Ellefson-era Megadeth (Rust in Peace, anyone?), but at least Dave Junior hasn't dropped off the face of the earth and is keeping busy in Soulfly, F5, Avian, etc.

As long as we're on the subject of Metallica, they were amazing last week. Creeping Death+Battery+PHANTOM FUCKING LORD=The best concert I've ever been to, tied with Rush, of course.
Also, LOL at my old posts in this thread. I now think that Black Album is actually pretty good, "One" kicks ass (especially when the pyro went off!), Master of Puppets is balls-out amazing and deserves every bit of praise it gets, and I even dig some songs off "Load" and a good amount off "ReLoad." Ccontrary to what I said two years ago, I really don't listen to Megadeth that much amymore, especially the post-"Rust" material. One of the tags on LVS is "Not giving a fuck about Megadeth post-1990". I think I've used it three times.
