So, I'm currently looking for some good horror movie suggestions. Keep in mind that I've seen a large number of horror, foreign and domestic. I'm just wanting to find something different.

For reference, here would be my top 5 horror flicks.
1. Martyrs
2. Eden Lake
3. Inside
4. The Loved Ones
5. The Divide

A really good horror movie can be so hard to find... It's my favorite genre so I'm always looking for the most disturbing, spine-chilling movies I can find. I would definitely suggest Audition if you haven't seen it. Also, I'm not sure how scary it would be to a veteran of horror films, but for me The Midnight Meat Train was a nice surprise in my opinion. I had never heard of it and gave it a shot and was not disappointed. High Tension, Jacob's Ladder, and Angelheart would be worth mentioning. Even if they aren't to your taste, maybe they would at least provide something refreshingly different from the norm.

I'll give Angelheart a shot, as I've seen the others.

Midnight Meat Train was pretty entertaining, I was really pleasantly surprised by that little gem. I liked Audition a lot, and I agree, it's not very conventional in the horror sense. It's quite deceptive until she receives the phone call. At that point, it's a grand WTF.

I really enjoyed High Tension, with the exception of the plot hole, but was able to over look that to just enjoy the flick. I also dug Jacob's Ladder.

Have you seen the 5 I have listed? If not, I HIGHLY recommend them.

In terms of sheer disturbing films, "A Serbian Film" tops anything I've ever come close to seeing. It's one of those movies I generally recommend people do NOT see as it is just nuts. People could judge you differently for watching that film. Tantalizing isn't it :-\

It's been awhile since I've seen Angelheart, but it has Mickey Rourke and Robert De Niro so surely it's still worth a watch. I watched The Divide and Eden Lake, thought both were good and I'm going to check out the others when I can. Never heard of A Serbian Film, sounds intenese though.

Another good one I just thought of that you've probably seen is Rosemary's Baby. Roman Polanski in his younger days.

I say go Asian for a good scare
Audition or Old Boy should give a good twisted scare

I consider Oldboy more of a thriller than a horror movie, but it is surely my favorite of all Asian Cinema.

I really enjoyed Audition. If you're into Asian Cinema, I suggest the following: Thirst, The Man From Nowhere, I saw the Devil

Johnny: You should absolutely go out of your way for Inside/Martyrs/Loved Ones. If you don't download, Loved Ones is on Redbox and is pretty cool.

Read the synopsis for A Serbian Film if you're more curious or some reviews. Most people say, "Dont' watch this movie". It's not scary, but it is horror.

Also Asian of sorts have you tried Ju-On or a Tale of 2 Sisters?

I would try Rec (the american remake was Quarantine)
Have you tried the Candyman movies?
How about The People Under the Stairs?

I loved Ju-On, have not seen Tale of 2 Sisters, so I'll snag that.
I loved Rec, Rec2 and Rec3 (Despite Rec3 not being anything like the original and more akin to a horror/action)

I saw the Candymans when I was a little kid, and always have that worry it won't transition well over time.

I never saw The People Under the Stairs, but I've always been curious. Thanks for the two suggestions, I will download...errr, "buy" them tonight.

I didn't mention this one because I'm sure you've seen it, but what the hell: Sinister.

People Under The Stairs, wow, I forgot all about that movie! If I remember right it's pretty creepy and definitely worth a watch.

I will be looking into those movies for sure.

Check out Lake Mungo. It is a mockumentary, but done to really good effect. As far as Mockumentaries go....The Last Exorcism was pretty decent as well. Tucker and Dale vs. Evil was great. It has horror elements but is mostly a dark comedy.

Have you seen Cabin in the Woods yet? I thought that was the best newer horror movie I've seen in a long time.

Loved Tucker and Dale, thought Cabin was brilliant.

Lake Mungo is next on my list actually, I'll have to post back next week after I watch.

For those who dig Horror Comedy type flicks, I recommend Botched and Severance. Both are pretty entertaining.

It's sad... I can't think of the last movie to really scare the crap out of me.

That said, I really dug the new Evil Dead.

If you're looking for a slightly more comedic/surreal horror film (although it leans more towards horror, as the humor is very dark) I'd recommend Cemetery Man.

If you're looking for a more sci-fi horror, I'd recommend Tetsuo: The Bullet Man. I haven't seen the first two films (The Iron Man and Body Hammer), but the third one seems like it'd be the easiest to watch as it was filmed mostly in English.

Finally, if you haven't already, you need to watch New Nightmare. To borrow a cliche, it makes Freddy scary again.

Although Phase 7 isn't exactly horror, it does have some creepy elements to it and I would definitely recommend it if you don't mind subtitles or speak spanish.

I haven't really been into horror movies since I was a teenager, but some of my favorites were the Saw movies, Hostel movies, and Machined. Serial killer movies.

Syd and I spend a lot of time watching questionable horror movies together, so I think I have a good sense of what's a good watch by now. Citadel definitely hit many marks for me in terms of suspense and world-building. I also really liked Absentia, although that's more psychological than pure horror. If you're looking for some cheese and gore, Toolbox Murders is a good time Smile

And if you want to be completely disappointed by a shit ending to an otherwise good movie, give Shrooms a watch. But I wouldn't advise that.

The last horror movie i watched was the original Nosferatu from the 1920. I don't mind watching silent movies if they are good and this one was sure worth it.

I also like the foreign horror movie Rec, which is one of those horror movies that is completely recorded on one camera and the entire point of view is through the camera the entire time. It also features zombies.

I also like Quarantine, which is a remake, only everything is in English.
