Everyone bangs on about Metal Storm being an underrated classic, but I've never played it.
Generally what I do when I'm scrounging for old NES games at the flea market or whatever is look for a developer that I know and respect, like Capcom or Hudson or Hal etc, and see if they have any games I've never heard of. I've found some nifty stuff that way before, but I'll be damned if I can think of one right now...

Metal Storm isn't bad. I played it a long time ago. Also Capcom has many good ones. Ignore that top 100 list though. The best NES RPG ever 'Destiny of an Emperor' isn't listed. That one was done by Capcom, also the Mega Man games.

You should play 8 Eyes. It's got levels like Castlevania, and a level select screen like Mega Man.

Wow, I've never even heard of 8 eyes but I googled it and it looks pretty cool. It's almost a direct rip-off of Castlevania.

I remember really enjoying a game called Iron Tank as a kid. It was a top-down tank shooter and thought it was a pretty good looking game for the time, on top of being pretty fun. Never really see/hear much about it.

Iron Tank is one of my favorite NES games. A great gem of a game from SNK, for sure. It is actually a sequel to an arcade game called TNK III (T.A.N.K. in Japan) and the main character, Ralf Jones(they call him Paul in the US version), was also in Ikari Warriors, the King of Fighters series and some Metal Slug games.

I'm about to go play 8 Eyes now, might as well check it out. Also, Logan is rightc, Shatterhand is great to get your action/platforming fix and had great graphics for its time. I would also recommend the top 100 list here on the site, it has a good many games worth playing for sure, but avoid Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. That game is horrible beyond words.

Having played 8 Eyes last night, I have to say it wasn't for me and I can't personally recommend it. If you enjoy the Castlevania games and you're looking for a cheap, glitchy imitator then it's worth a shot.
Mike Matai has some great suggestions. I would have never played Felix the Cat if I hadn't watched that video and it is really a great game for the NES.

If you wanna play 8 Eyes and don't mind emulating, you're better off applying the new Simon Belmont patch that was recently released. Basically, it gives you a whip, as well as the Castlevania sub-weapons, which makes the game much less frustrating to play. I'm enjoying it so far; it's quite a big difference.

Looks at list... first game is Rescue Rangers. LOLWUT. Dude, anyone who knows shit about NES knows Rescue Rangers. The Disney Afternoon was HUGE back in the day. Everyone fucking played this. It's not a rare or obscure game by any means. Also, it's not very good.

I am sure to anyone born in the 90s everything on the NES is "undiscovered" or some shit.

You all should play Guardian Legend. It has shooting spaceship levels mixed with top down Zelda style levels.

Not sure if it's just the nostalgia, and that a lot of games were fun as as kid that may not be now, but I got a lot of hours of entertainment out of GunSmoke. I think I only ever made it past the second level once or twice, but somehow still had fun playing it from the start anyway.

Blaster Master kicks ass. Also if you like a game like Zelda II but brutally harder, try Battle of Olympus. Also, Faxanadu is good.

The TMNT game on nes I played the most as a kid was TMNT III: The Manhattan Project. If you liked TMNT II then you will probably like that one as well.

First of all, thanks for all the suggestions. and 8 eyes it´s kind of meh. I saw some invincible common enemies, which would kill me if I try to kill them. The weapon range it´s too short.
