I have an update to this story.

EA is also shutting down ALL of it's Facebook playfish games. Simcity Social is included in this group being shut down. Players are pissed, including myself, who play this game.

They can try all they want, and have been getting really good at it in recent years, but they'll stay afloat for a long time. Between the yearly sports games and owning Maxis and Bioware they can manage to sell millions of games a year without much effort. As we saw all you have to do is slap Sim City on a box and people will buy it without a second thought or looking at reviews.
