im semi lactose so i hardly drink milk. by semi lactose, i mean that ice cream doesnt do much to me, neither does cheese, but if i have a bowl of cereal w/milk, i usually do it at night so i dont have to deal w/the gas while awake.

Aged cheese is perfectly fine because the lactose has already broken down.

this is why I stick to skim milk
and drink milk in canada where they dont use hormones in dairy cattle and the sale of milk from cows that have had growth hormones injected into them is illegal

A lot of these statistics are deliberately presented in a misleading context.

WHATEVER. Regardless of whether or not I need milk in my life, I absolutely need cheese and ice cream in my life, and those both contain milk. Without cheese, life isn't worth living. And that's why vegans should kill themselves.

Yeah without cheese life would kind of suck pretty hard. You gotta get calcium somehow and dairy is the best way in my opinion. I tend to mainly use milk in recipes these days more so than drink it straight these days though. Butter is pretty cool stuff too, popcorn would suck without it and so would blueberry muffins and it is another milk product.

Whoever made that infographic must have a personal vendetta against milk. According to that, milk has no helpful properties whatsoever, and drinking it will either cause some discomfort or eventually kill you.

I drank milk regularly for awhile as Vitamin D is a natural treatment for depression, especially for people like myself who tend to avoid sunlight. It worked, but I have since switched to lowfat yogurt, as lowfat yogurt is a more suitable meal replacement.

My concern is that in the U.S. it appears as if they will be able to start adding Aspartame to Milk without having to list it on the label. Also, I thought not being able to eat Bacon is the reason why vegans should kill themselves?

While I'm against bovine hormones, what the hell is wrong with getting some fat and calcium? Children need both growing up in order to develop right. The whole "same calories as soda" thing is the most misleading. It's the shit like soda and snack food that's destroying bodies, as they have almost no nutritional value whatsoever beyond tons of sugar and sodium. Self-righteous dopes are such "health nuts" they've become blind to what's really healthy.
Try to drink an ice cold glass of water around a twenty-something city kid these days and watch as sparks fly because apparently a sip of water's temperature won't normalize in a 98 degree organic being's mouth or body, and your throat will collapse from the chilled drink you just had. The new laughable reasoning is that, and I've heard this several times, Europeans and Chinese don't drink ice water, so that means we're idiots who are going to die (bonus points: tell them that some Asian countries sell canned glutin). None of these people have to work in a 115 degree kitchen with minimal ventilation, but that's just me getting huffy. Don't get me started on freaking homeopathy.
Here's a tip to be healthy that's worked for me in the past year: calories don't mean shit. You need them, and when you balance it out well with the calories that you burn, there's nothing to worry about there. You need protein, calcium, carbohydrates, vitamins, etc., and can benefit from reasonable intakes of caffeine, alcohol, and other non-essentials. Just find a balance instead of jumping onto every bandwagon whose banner is a pretty infographic. Odds are the simplest answer like "don't do this one thing" are pretty much wrong.

Haha Greg I have one of those crazy health nuts on my Facebook friends list and every day it is pictures like this one cluttering up my news feed. The only reason I haven't unsubscribed from all but his important posts is because it is fun to see what the crazy new food conspiracy of the week is. Plus he's one of those that thinks flouride in the water is a government plot to poison us all, which I find hilarious.

Yeah, there's a lot invested there. I'm just tired of of having 100 meals lined up in front of my in the kitchen line, then a table of five with fake-ass "lactose" and "gluten" intolerants who have no idea what those things are. They just know that the front page of the mini-magazines on the grocery checkout line said they might be bad so NOPE.
That, and as a pretty left-wing guy, I despise the kind of idiots on my side who say global warming is happening "because science" but insist on not immunizing their kids, or pushing homeopathy because those scientists work for the corporations, man.

I recently discovered that I'm lactose intolerant, but I just take lactase tablets so it hasn't stopped me from enjoying cereal.
Unfortunately, my brother happens to be one of those types of people who'll believe any article that says anything even remotely bad about some kind of food. He refuses to eat anything made with canola oil despite it being the second-healthiest oil on the planet. Yes, canola oil, I'm dead serious. God forbid he sees this infographic...

Fortunately I fall under the statistic where I am not lactose intolerant and I can drink milk. So all this herpin and derpin about "do your body a favor" means nothing to me. I drink about 8 litres of milk a week.

Well in my house we buy about 10 litres but I am the only person who straight drinks it, others use it for coffee, so i'll grant them those two litres.
One thing i've found though is that it's bad for your skin but that's the only negative i've found.

How many other creatures on the planet drink milk beyond adolescence? How many drink milk from other creatures? Over a third of all humans suffer from lactose intolerance for a reason. Cow milk was designed for baby cows, a creature with a completely difference digestive track and size/weight ratio than human beings. Since I stopped drinking milk, I have gotten no cavities, lost the majority of my remaining body fat and feel a hell of a lot better. Granted, I am a leftist who believes in global warming, although not because of science. I believe in global warming and milk being unhealthy because of evidence. Scientific evidence.

I believe our climate is shifting. Do I believe we're causing it? I don't know. Our planet's climate has changed drastically and subtly several times over the course of history without human interference. There are compelling arguments that the current changes are our fault, and there are compelling ones that it isn't. But it is definitely happening.
As for milk, I don't really care if it's bad for me or not. I enjoy it, and I choose to believe it's perfectly healthy. The Smoker's Creed, I guess, even though I don't smoke.
