I was kind of pissed at how the NFL and the President used the teachers and children from Sandy Hook for profit and politics, but hey, this is the USA, and by golly, we can make money off of ANYTHING!

I'd like to take a moment to let you all know I have decided to sell guns for charity with all profits going to the victims of shooting tragedies.

I hate the gun control debate. It's quite possibly the most tired, boring, overdone debate in all of politics. It also accomplishes the least, as before I go into that debate with either side, I know exactly what they're going to say and that I'm not going to change anyone's mind by the end. Generally speaking, I try to avoid debating it all together because it's not an issue I'm super passionate about, nor one that I agree with liberals or conservatives on.

So, all that being said, I actually don't mind the President's move so much. For Democrats especially, accusations of tyranny and malice are always thrown around when they touch the gun issue. By bringing in the families of Sandy Hook victims, they remind people that they're doing this because of the real human toll gun violence takes on people, and not because we want to heard Americans into death camps or some malarkey. It is a stunt, but I'd only accept that as a criticism if assholes like Ted Nugent and Wayne LaPierre didn't make a publicity tour in every town a shooting occurred in to promote gun rights before the victims are even cold. All's fair in love and war.

I'll let you decide for yourselves (as I have no doubt that every single one of you has already) what the solution is, but I'm just defending the use of the faces. This is definitely an area where the President and I don't see eye to eye, but I'll leave it at that.

My piece is that the culture has to change. The NRA being a bunch of paranoid fuckwits isn't up to the job, so we're going to have to either take personal responsibility or accept some form of control over the availability of firearms in this country.

I'm personally with Fighter in that I'm not in the mood for another pointless debate, but holy fuck, as a gun owner, I want the NRA disbanded. I can't badmouth them around other owners, and I can't bring up the fact that I own guns to non-owners (else I'm immediately treated as a nut), and the NRA is to blame for no progress being made.

They make all owners look like unreasonable nutjobs, and only strengthen the resolve of those who are completely ignorant of firearms, owners, and their uses. They're on their way out, but their history of being completely obstinate in the debate is going to create a huge backlash against firearms and their owners. The fact that they're making themselves look more and more ridiculous every day gives me hope that they'll crumble in the near future, while this debate is at least reaching a reasonable point, where there's a good middle ground of people.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.
