The video game industry is currently in love with improving the graphics of older games and re-releasing them as something new. Most of the time, the results are non-essential, but occasionally you get something incredible.
If you were in charge of what games were going to be remade with facelifts graphical or otherwise, what would they be.

I'll go ahead and toss my hat in the ring with Betrayal at Krondor. Keep the gameplay exactly the same, but make it pretty. Also, I'd want the developers to resist the urge to try to update the music, because the original soundtrack was awesome and fills me with nostalgia.

Betrayal in Krondor was absolutely amazing. Playing it right now actually. Did you ever play Betrayal in Antara or read any of the Feist novels? That seriously was a special time for RPGs. It's just so unique.

Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinstrals would be amazing with better graphics. I would buy the shit out of that.

Glover for me, because that game had a lot of potential, but it was brought down by horrible controls. If they remake it with auto aiming, I'd probably like it.

If Flying Dragon is ever remade I hope they insert a tutorial or something. My five-year-old-self wanted to smash my head through a wall the first time I got the game because the fighting sequences are so ridiculously hard. I wholeheartedly agree with the rest of the list, too.

Also:

Magic of Scheherazade

Dragon Warrior 3

Castlevania 2 (if it ever gets remade, hopefully Konami will do something about the fact that your currency is the same thing as your ammunition)

Final Fantasy Legend

Phantasy Star III (I think this game could potentially be earth-shattering if they fleshed out the plot a bunch)

River City Ransom (the GBA remake was good, but I'd like a remake that actually adds content since the original game is only about two hours long)

The Guardian Legend

Sweet Home

Metal Gear 1&2 (the Japanese versions, obviously)

Rygar

Ghoul School

Clash at Demonhead

Ski or Die

Goonies 2

Monster Party

Blackthorne

				I like your list Cam.
Also, the thing about Flying Dragon that pissed me off was the hidden chests you had to find to get to the end of the game. When I finally got to the end the first time when I was younger and found out I was so angry I just turned the game off and didn't play it again for years. Now the game is super easy for me.

				Clock Tower
Clock Tower 2
 Chrono Cross
 Final Fantasy 3
 Dino Crisis series

I think all of them would be very much improved with a graphic overhaul and music performed by a full orchestra.

Pff. That is not a remake. They changed too much. The battle system, the character, the whole style. This game has nothing to do with Lufia and the graphics suck. I rather look at some nice 16bit graphics than at this.

I'd love to see one of the Monster Ranchers other than EVO or DS done on current gen or next gen systems.

I remember posting a thread just like this with the same exact title a while ago. I'll paste my list that I had on there.

1) Road Rash - Most definitely Road Rash. I mean, c'mon, how the hell could they not have a motorcycle racing game with fists and weapons in this day and age?Why the hell did they stop continuing this franchise?

2) Any of the Genesis Sonic titles - I hope Sega decides to give these games the Sonic 4 treatment as long as they do them right.

3) Contra - We could sure use a modern side-scrolling shoot 'em up. Look what they did with Double Dragon Neon.

4) Golgo 13 - I think it'd be nice to have a remake of the NES game but with more sniping elements like in the arcade game added in.

5) Maniac Mansion - This game was pretty fun in its day and we don't get many SCUMM-based adventure games these days.

6) Twisted Metal 1 and 2 - I know there's the recent PS3 title, but I wouldn't mind seeing these first two games in the franchise being rehashed to look and feel like the PS3 game but with all the original elements kept in.

7) Tomba - I liked the cartoony feel of this game and I think the graphics capabilities of next-gen consoles can do it better justice today.

8) Snatcher - We Americans only got one game and it was for the Sega CD. The Japanese at least had several different versions from the PC-8801 to the Playstation. Too bad Hideo Kojima doesn't want to revive this game...

9) Streets of Rage - I know we got the fanmade Streets of Rage Remake from Bomber Games and that game is awesome, though I think it'd be nice if Sega would come up with their own official one for a modern console. I doubt it'll ever happen.

10) Gunstar Heroes - Another shoot 'em up that should've spawned a franchise. Hell, the video game industry of today needs more arcade-style games like this.

11) Guardian Legend - A scantily-clad chick that turns into a spaceship on shooter levels and then back again on labyrinth levels? Why the heck not?

12) Eternal Champions - It may have been a ripoff of MK but every character was well-made and had a unique story to them and the fact they were all fighting to live again was a pretty cool plot idea.
