As someone who came here for the Erin Esurance Porn, I've always felt a bit swindled.

yeah I am Ermac and I still come around here just to see what people are doing as I always liked everyone around here secretly even if they hated me or if I came off the wrong way.
I also think alot of people got their dose of late 20's nostalgia and decided they had came to terms with their childhood and the true power of the NES. People born in the early to mid 1980's are usually parents now with real jobs and see this site as something that filled a need for a while but is now over. Syd did a damn good job of making a haven for us during that period.
Myself personally, I realized i took my love of classic video games/nostalgia to the extreme and I just focus on whats hot now and quit trying to live in the past.
At a certain point in life you just got to find new interests and quit trying to find the lost passion you had as a kid, it never truly comes back. I like to joke with my friends about a cool NES thing I find in the wild, but they are past the point of playing emulators on their PC or trying to find some hack rom of Zelda.
I found out I had a 9 year old daughter I didn't find out about until recently so I am looking forward to spoiling her with a WiiU and a DSi. I am looking forward to sharing the joy with her now instead of desperately finding the one I use to have about old video games.

Ermac, sincerely, you should stick around a bit. When you aren't being a dick to people or trolling, you're a cool guy. So when you have some spare time, pop in every once in a while.
Love,

I don't know, Ermac had me laughing that last night I saw him in the chat. Maybe it was dick Ermac we liked? I can't remember.

I dunno if I ever counted as a regular, but I can vouch for the "being grown up means less free time" part.
To make a long, occasionally funny but quite lengthy story short, my kids are getting older, I'm functionally limited because of a bad back injury, yet I'm also playing in two bands and have unofficially been branded manager in one of them, which means I run social media pages for both and booking shows, hobknobbimg with venue owners and bookers and so on.
Even if not for that, I'm married and have two kids who are fast getting older. I like it here, but I don't often have enough time to post anything meaningful. Facebook is a different story, but that's because i either use my Facebook to manage band pages, make goofy ass updates, or just let the world still know I'm alive.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

I hope that never happens. I used to hang around RPGdreamersforum.com all the time and it got shut down. Shit sucks. I miss that place.

You know, sometimes one has to pull the old weasel, and doing it while perusing the SydLexia forums would just be downright creepy, now wouldn't it? I remember reading their posts and enjoying them for the most part. I haven't been around here for a while (I've always been more of a lurker), but as with most forums, things can stagnate after a while.
I still love going back and reading all the old articles, though.

I would be devastated if this place got shut down. I at least hope the IRC channel would remain open, I have no idea what I'd do without you guys.

Yeah, I hope Syd keeps things going. I'd like Jeebus to update his blog a bit more as well. This is one of the first pop culture sites I ever read.

I do read the content once in awhile. Of course. I was brought here by the top 100 NES list (I assure you it wasn't Erin Esurance) and to this day I can still reread the Murder Mystery House article over and over again.
I'd post in the Facebook thread, but Ithink I already have before. A couple of people from here have already friended me there.

I read the site on at least a weekly basis, most weeks 3-5 times. It's my #7 bookmark. I don't know why I don't post more. I do work two jobs about 45-70 hours a week, so most of the time that's the reason I don't post.
I do love this site, I do love the friends I have on here that have crossed over on facebook, and I love nostalgia!

That thing about certain people is probably pretty true for many folks.
I lurk though. Sometimes.
