So, I was going to check the weather online a few minutes ago and noticed that the Weather Channel (weather.com) is now naming winter storms. This is quite possibly the most spastic choice of storm names. Some of them I like but others are just silly. Definitely some great pop culture references present.

I particularly like Orko, Rocky, Q and Gandolf. My favorite would have to be Khan. Hopefully that will be a fierce storm so I can stand outside and yell at it like Captain Kirk.

For a second I thought it said Jago. They should just name the storms after Killer Instinct characters. HURRICANE B. ORCHID

To absolutely nobody's surprise, I am very okay with Winter Storm Q. Being caught in Winter Storm Iago is pretty funny when you realize that you're being Gilbert Gottfried'd to death.

I knew they were naming winter storms now and thought it was silly.

Why do storms need names? Just refer to them by the date they occurred.

Apparently the storms need names because it makes them easier to track for regular ADD?ADHD people in this day in age. Basically, they are doing it for twitter and facebook. Obviously with names like those, they are doing it for ratings/attention as well.

Definitely this. Naming storms is one thing, but names like this are just silly. It also works a lot better for hurricanes and tropical storms and the like, as those almost always last more than a day, while it's very unusual to have a winter storm system last that long. Referring to storms by date works when it happens inside of a single day, which snowstorms usually do, so this seems a tad unnecessary.

Yogi? How can you name something forcefully and destructiv Yogi? I think they were joking with that. Drako is also a stupid name. Like the Harry Potter rival.
I like Nemo. When that storm arrives you can look out of your window and say "I found Nemo!".
