At least he got to see us put Curiosity on Mars.

Famous puppeteer member Jerry Nelson passed away on the 23rd, from various conditions and cancers he'd been dealing with for years, including emphysema. Nelson served as Rolf's right hand man (well, puppeteer of the right arm to be specific) as well as the puppeteer and voice of The Count. Other characters include Sherlock Hemlock, The Amazing Mumford, Herry Monster, Snuffelupaguss from for 7 years starting in 1971, Lew Zealand, Robin the Frog, Camilla the Chicken and lastly Gobo Fraggle.

His daughter was given a small cameo in the 2nd muppet movie before passing on from cystic fybrosis in eighty-two. Jim Henson gave her a speaking part so she would become a member of the actor's union.

That really sucks, I really enjoyed him in pretty much everything he was in and he was the quintessential big scary black guy with a heart of gold.

This.

He was in a few movies where he was the only thing that didn't suck.
