Being a self-effacing liberal, I hate these "I know a fact that is more medically important than anything else," movements that simple-minded leftists love lording over people. The people who throw this around are also the types who love to tell everyone that drinking cold water will make you shit blood or something, and that homeopathy is anything but ridiculous. Try to tell them that a million doctors disagree and it's "THAT'S WHAT PHARMACEUTICAL CORPORATIONS WANT YOU THINK."

"Of those who sit in front of the TV 3 hours per day, those who exercise are just as fat as those who don't"
Considering your weight depends far more on how you eat than on how much you exercise, this is just dumb.

Yeah, that line is essentially saying "Sitting in front of the TV 3 hours a day makes you fat even if you exercise" which is total bullshit and another reason why I don't take this chart very seriously.

I've lost 24 pounds between May and now entirely through dieting. I eat three meals a day, and limit my breakfast and lunch to roughly 450 calories each. I don't count calories on my dinner at all, or exercise, but just by cutting my calorie intake and improving the regularity with which I eat, I've lost weight. And pretty much any time that I'm not at work, I'm either sitting down or lying down.
Yeah that three hours a day in front of the TV thing is crap. I never gained a bit of weight sitting for hours playing video games over the summer as a kid, I was always super underweight. I think if I actually started paying attention to what I eat like I did back then I'd be able to lose the like 20lbs I've put on in the past few years.

Is the Diet Coke having any effect on that whatsoever?
I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

Is this why the Japanese squat instead of sit on toilets? Now I know the Japanese peoples' secret to living so long!
It's actually a more natural position for elimination, since you have gravity working for you at a better angle.
Yeah, I know. I spent a year living in Japan and learned the whole deal. At least it's not like India, where they wipe(or scrape) with their hands. Ugh.

Well, there are some things that are true. Sitting stagnant in front of a TV uses up absolutely no energy at all. Researchers found that even playing board games or doing something slightly physical keeps your body moving and active enough to burn calories. It's not sitting or TV that's bad for you, it's being completely sedentary that is.

No, but it did the first time I lost weight, when I switched from regular to diet.

Isn't your work a job that has you on your feet for 6-7 hours per day 5-6 days per week?
Not sure I want to click the link when I see the words "boy killed anally"

5-10 hours per day, 5 days a week, but yeah.
But I still spend the majority of my time in a week either sitting down, sleeping, or sprawled out on a couch.
If I spend 8 hours of a day at work, I spend 10 of the other 16 sitting down, and the rest sleeping.
I don't claim to know anything, but I've been curious for a while to test a standing desk. I'm writing a PhD dissertation and obviously (try to) spend a bulk of my waking hours with books & keyboard. I figured I could try to do the writing-part while standing. I bet I'd be more active that way.
On second thought, fuck it.
