Google is starting to get into the ISP business, and the prices look pretty good, considering the service they're offering
Unfortunately, they're currently only offering this service in Kansas City at the moment, but I'm curious to see how it'll pan out. At the listed prices, I'd definitely consider taking advantage of this, were it available to me. The high speed internet plan offers gigabit upload and download speeds, and also includes a /terabyte/ of cloud storage through Google Drive. However, it also appears the service would become available only if enough people show interest.
If this is how Google plans to offer internet service, I'd say they'd give other ISPs some serious competition. Of course, there's no saying how the prices or service quality would change if implemented nationwide.

I look forward to the day that the States' internet infrastructure powers up. It will definitely be interesting to see how well Google Fiber plays out.

Some family of mine in Kansas City are switching to a competitor after being fed up with Time Warner Cable, so maybe down the road this will be a sexy option.

Hell nearly anything is better than Comcast and their super inflated prices. Maybe they'll actually create some competition when they expand the service and drive prices down because we definitely need it.

I didn't read this, but I assume Google now has a cereal that promises to help me take better shits. This is good because Fiber One just hasn't been cutting it. Breakfast cereals was the last place I expected Google to go but I guess that's what makes them innovators.

I have read that this is a test for Google. They want to see how insane bandwidth can impact their network and applications. Most articles point to this being one of only a few areas they will support during this test.

I saw a speedtest.net snapshot on reddit from a dude using this.

It was INSANE to see the kind of speeds he was getting

One step closer to Google Gov.

Which honestly can't be any worse than what we have now.
