Except my yard.

I'll preface by saying that everyone is ok and my home is in tact.

My yard was hit by lightning twice today. The cement surrounding my pool was struck as I watched from about 30 feet away. I saw a pink blinding light from my garage and felt my whole body tingle.

The second strike was about 100 yards away as the lightning struck a Norway Maple tree.

Immediately after the two strikes rain hit us harder than the hurricane last year and hail the size of marbles fell for about 3 minutes.

What a frigg'n day!

That's insane.

I bet it was really loud, too. Lightning struck a tree RIGHT OUTSIDE my window once when I lived in Independence. I was up and out of bed before the flash had gone away, it was so freaking loud.

The one that hit the tree 100 yards away was incredibly loud. The one that hit the pool 30 feet away was so loud I felt it rather than heard it. I don't know how else to explain it. I wasn't shocked, but I could feel the electricity and the explosiveness from inside.

Who the hell came up with that phrase, of course it can hit the same place twice. It would defy the point of lightning rods.

Though good thing your safe. Dem Mesoscale Convective Systems can be a bitch.

I've been without power for 3 days, your pitiful lightning story is nothing. Someone kill me.

You should have karate-chopped that lightning the first time, GPF. Teach it not to come around anymore.

That baby sure is a bolt of lightning that struck twice.

About a decade ago, I was within ~75 feet of a lightning strike on a summer campout. It hit a tree near our tents, and when we checked it out in the morning, the bolt wrapped around the tree in a downward spiral. Feels pretty cool, doesn't it - like it's somewhat surging through body? Not something that happens too often.

Hopefully your house is still in good shape!

When I was a little kid I could've sworn a small lightening bolt hit me when I was playing in the rain with an umbrella, I bragged all through elementary school that I survived a lightening strike.
