Since it's been decided that teams will have a set number of members, now we have to decide what that number will be.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the original FB post.

I was being serious about the letter thing. Think about the strategy that would be added. It sort of gives everyone a monetary value. For instance, my name has 13 letters so I'm a pricey buy for a team. A team thinking about adding me would have to weigh the pros and cons to decide if I'm worth the letter spending. However, someone like Hacker who only has 6 letters and is probably popular enough to garner votes would be in high demand. There would be a strategy to forming teams rather than teams being a BFF circlejerk.

I would be a cheap buy, as I only have 3 letters in my name.

Yeah, after this poll ends, we should have another poll asking if people want to do sideway's suggestion. Also, make sure it's only open for like 12 hours, too; large sample sizes are for pussies.

Well, that's the point. Teams are randomly organized now.

You know, Drew, you could think of how you want to run the contest /before/ you post the thread with the rules and such, instead of coming up with the rules as you go and just editing your post to add them in / change them as you think of them. It wouldn't kill you to wait more than thirty seconds after you decide you're going to run it before you officially start it, and it's kind of silly to accept signups while you're actively (and quietly) changing the rules--people might want to know what they're signing up for. Now go start a poll to see if you'll listen to this post or not.

The only reason I started changing the rules is because people suggested that I do so. And I did so because I want, as I said earlier, for it to be as enjoyable as possible. And I don't think I could be any louder about, I'm having entire polls dedicated to the changes.

Even so, I'll put a disclaimer telling people to check the original post frequently to see what's changed.

Besides, you were arguing for bigger teams. NOW LOOK WHAT'S HAPPENED, FIG.

Ahem, the rules were "Post here to sign up, and you can have teams" once the first four people had signed up. You didn't even add that "Max 5" part until you already had four people listed as confirmed participants.

That was NEVER a rule. I said people could make teams and then sign up or whatever; I didn't care.

As for:

as far as I can recall, that had always been there until I started these threads. What you wanted was larger teams, from your post saying you wouldn't join or something until they were bigger. If you want, I can take you out of the roster. I have no problem with that. I'm just trying to satisfy as many people as I can and your bickering with me over things I may or may not have said and done is really taking the wind out of my sails over here.

I don't know what you're disagreeing with, your explanation sounds like exactly what I said you said.

It definitely was not added until you'd already had four people sign up, because ThunderThief, Hacker, and I were all only signing up out of excitement that we could have all of us on one team. I edited my post after you edited yours, so that my post would make sense in context. And yeah, unless they say they still want in, I don't think you should consider any of the people who signed up, and in their signup posts made it clear that they were counting on the rules you had at the time, valid.

I'm not upset or whatever, by the way, I'm just playing, mostly. I think Drew knows me well enough to've /understood that/. I do think it's really lame to keep changing the rules once people have started signing up, though, especially since most of the rules you've changed/added (which is all of them, now) were just silently edited in. At the very least you should keep a changelog at the bottom of your post or something.

I think I may have misunderstood you. My understanding was that the rule you were implying I wrote was that people could start creating teams once four people had signed on, which was not a rule ever. So I'm sorry.

Also, I understand how changing the rules may be aggravating. And I will definitely add a changelog and disclaimer about the rules.

As for the five member team thing, that's all I can remember. That may not have been what I said originally, but summer is fucking my memory up. Or something. At any rate, the point is you want to be on a team with a few other people specifically, right? If that's the case, then I may not assign teams randomly. Or, even better in my opinion, is make both options available. So that people who want to decide which team they're on can do so, or they can be put into a pot where I will decide for them.

No way, I want to be on a team with twenty other people specifically. If you can't make an exception for that team to exist, then just go all in with random teams. Random teams will be a lot cooler if people don't have a choice about it.

Either make it random or let people pick their teams. If both options are going to be available, most people would probably just stick with their cliques, which, in my opinion, makes it boring.

Well, you seem to at any rate. It means a lot.

I think I'm done tinkering with the rules. And it looks like most people prefer three to four, so that should be everything important.
