The earliest time I used this name was when I was seriously into the Gaming community at a local card shop. They had everything there though. Card games, an 18 computer LAN network, miniatures games, Friday Night Magic, tourneys, if you could play it they sold it.
It was on this LAN network I discovered Counter Strike 1.6. After seeing Weird Al in UHF do his "Gandhi II" fake movie trailer, where he has an mp5 and is a badass, I adopted that name for my Counter Strike persona. I thought it was funny.
As you can see, I misspelled "Gandhi". I spelled it Ghandi. That's how I thought and remembered it was spelled. By the time I made the effort to actually see how it was correctly spelled it didn't look right. So rather than correct it I kept the misspelling.
Since then the name has been used one way or another. Mostly to phase out former and dead screen names of mine. This is also my 2nd registered name here since I think I got the email typed wrong on my registration. If I did it would be "Almost Rambo". A Weird Al parody from the same movie UHF. "Almost Rambo" has it's own story, but since I'm not that name now and only was for about 10 minutes, I'll end the post here

That just reminded me of one of my all-time favorite threads--when Jeebus decided to combine every news story into one, impossible-to-follow thread.
My screen name originated from the chat. I was originally kefka420 and I picked that because Kefka is my favorite FF villain...and I sometimes blazed. I picked a name that didn't sound feminine because I hate when I go online and get messaged just because I'm a girl. Anyway, once I discovered that the chat was not full of too many freaks, I decided to change my name to something that was more...me. I use my initials but I had to keep Kefka since that's what everyone called me. I don't use kefka anywhere else though. Exciting, huh? :)
I felt compelled to post because Forum Battle was mentioned and I agree that you all should get another one going. Those are always so funny.

Freshman year, my roommate was black, and all of his friends lived on campus. So our group was basically like eight black kids, and little pale, blonde me. There was also another Greg in the group. I became known as White Greg, and him Black Greg.
So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

I knew two guys named Josh in high school, one white, one half-black. I called them White Josh and Gray Josh.
I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

Well, this entire thread was an interesting skim read after my holiday weekend.
Don't know if I have explained my username before, besides saying what it means in Italian. I might have, who knows.
Anyway, back in something like 95 or 96, I was looking for a character name for one of the first MMORPG's, Sierra's "The Realm." It was basically Hero's Quest/Quest for Glory Online. So, I wanted to think of a cool name for my thief, so I grabbed an Italian/English dictionary and started looking up words. For "evil," it listed "cattivo." So, I used that. Soon after, I started needing usernames for internet accounts, so I started using cattivo and have ever since.
After studying Italian more, I've since learned that quite often it means "naughty," as in a misbehaving child. For example, "un ragazzo cattivo." Occasionally, I've thought of switching it up and using stuff like "Tesla" instead then, but it seems pointless now. It certain contexts it still means "evil" anyway, even though in real life, I've pretty much been a goody-two-shoes (although online it seems I can be a bit of an asshole, so maybe it fits in this context).

I used to be a big fan of Wu-Tang Clan, particularly Method Man, back when I was a young teen. When people started using the internet, I decided to use that as my username. A few years later, I would change the 'o' to an 'i' in a naive attempt to make my username sound less copycatty, but I've kept the name nonetheless.
I'm still debating with myself on whether I should change my name to something like Double M to avoid being associated with the rapper, but since no one on the internet seems to even know about Method Man, I haven't had much motivation to do so.
Also, what's this Forum Battle everyone's talking about? I didn't pay much attention to the forums last year.

I'm not running it and I'm likely not participating in it, so if you all want a forum battle, you all can find someone else and have them work it out with the big man.
The whole "Flaming Schnitzel" part was an inside joke between me and a friend in high school. We had a weird thing about trying to come up with crazy band names for each other. Oftentimes, we came up with them off the top of our head using whatever material we could. I distinctly remember going through such gems like The Frozen Tundra and The Tropical Vacuum and The Fabulous Heifer. We were both a tad too obsessed with history, and one day in European History, we started coming up with those related to history. Such as: The Golden Guillotine, The Supple Kaiser, The Veracious Borsch, and, of course, The Flaming Schnitzel. I personally liked The Flaming Schnitzel best and she liked The Frozen Tundra, so we kinda used them as alias when we passed notes. Eventually, I also used it for my films that I made.
I have never used this before as an Internet handle. I have been on various boards under various names. When I signed up, I was originally going to come in under a different username. However, I didn't want to be forever known as Drew Linky's friend and I was trying to choose something Drew wouldn't be able to pick out as me. Voila, I became The Flaming Schnitzel. However, it kinda was pointless because the minute I came into the IRC, Drew knew it was me. C'est la vie.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of the Subtle Kaiser, myself. That one's awesome.

Sorry. But it kinda fits you, in a weird internet way. <3
As for forum battle, who knows? I might help run it if no one else wants to.

You should hop into the IRC more often because you're the bomb and deeply missed.
