I don't remember but it certainly was not due to an anime that I watched a year after I decided on it. I still find it weird that after 2006 I have yet to find anyone who assumes I'm a girl when they first see me post.

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

The earliest time I used this name was when I was seriously into the Gaming community at a local card shop. They had everything there though. Card games, an 18 computer LAN network, miniatures games, Friday Night Magic, tourneys, if you could play it they sold it.

It was on this LAN network I discovered Counter Strike 1.6. After seeing Weird Al in UHF do his "Gandhi II" fake movie trailer, where he has an mp5 and is a badass, I adopted that name for my Counter Strike persona. I thought it was funny.

As you can see, I misspelled "Gandhi". I spelled it Ghandi. That's how I thought and remembered it was spelled. By the time I made the effort to actually see how it was correctly spelled it didn't look right. So rather than correct it I kept the misspelling.

Since then the name has been used one way or another. Mostly to phase out former and dead screen names of mine. This is also my 2nd registered name here since I think I got the email typed wrong on my registration. If I did it would be "Almost Rambo". A Weird Al parody from the same movie UHF. "Almost Rambo" has it's own story, but since I'm not that name now and only was for about 10 minutes, I'll end the post here Smile

RIP Hacker

Mine's kind of a mix. The first part is from a CCG/RPG called Legend of the Five Rings. One of the minor clans in that setting is the Hare (or Usagi) clan. The "Satsui" is actually from the Street Fighter games, the "evil intent" that Akuma has is called the "Satsui no Hadou". So my name in that community was "Usagi Satsui". When I popped on IRC, it only let you have 9 letters in your name, so it got shortened to "UsaSatsui". That's how I've kept it sense.

I'm kinda amused how bite started this topic, but really doesn't have a story behind it.

My name is Mud
Not to be confused with Bill or Jack or Pete or Dennis
My name is mud and it's always been
'Cause I'm the most boring sons-a-bitch you've ever seen
I dress in blue-yes navy blue
From head to toe I'm rather drab except my patent shoes
I make 'em shine, well most the time
'Cept today my feet are troddin' on by this friend of mine
Six foot two and rude as hell
I got to get him in the ground before he starts to smell

My name is Mud

My name is Mud,
But call me Alowishus Devadander Abercrombie
That's long for Mud, so I've been told
Told that by this sonsabitch that lies before me bloated blue and cold
I've got my pride, I drink my wine
I'd drink the finest except I haven't earned a dime in several months
Or were it years
The breath on that fat bastard could bring any man to tears
We had our words, a common spat
So I kissed him upside the cranium with an aluminum baseball bat

My name is Mud

Forums - Was the answer to a trivia question in IRC. I dug it.

IRC - I was eating Fig Newtons one time when I signed on, and set my name as such on a whim.

<Drew_Linky> Well, I've eaten vegetables all of once in my life.

Preng was a high school nickname of mine, which simply dropped a syllable off of my last name. I've been using it as an internet handle ever since because it's easy to read and pronounce, isn't bogged down with numbers (more of a reference to Xbox LIVE players than these forums), and is a username I prefer in the long term.

Some people who know me personally haven't called me by my first name in quite some time.

I am not a New York metal band, an art supply brand, or a questionable [update: disappointing] Urban Dictionary term. References to salty potato-like foodstuff snacks are acceptable in moderation.

You're disappointed by a term that isn't even his username and thus not part of the story behind his username?

My dad always called the Beach Boys the Beach Bums. Not terribly creative, but your sn does make me think of it.

Mine is just one of the characters of 8bit Theater. Final Fantasy on the NES was the first video game I ever played way back when I was about 5 years old, so it's kind of my go to when I set up accounts on sites like this.

In secret I laid hidden, skulking, lurking. Admiring the majesties I gazed upon from afar. Each one the mark of someone who had been here before. One day I knew I would be able to walk among their creators, leave my marks, and that some day someone else would see them and wonder.

It had been some time since I had discovered this location. It was hard to believe that a simple... salacious search for Erin could've led me to this wondrous place. When I first spotted the marks of a great man I became transfixed. I found myself revisiting this place more and more. It wasn't long before I no longer needed to seek out Erin to find my way here, I started visiting on my own. As I explored and looked upon the works of the glorious man who must've created this place I came to a room. This room seemed dedicated to this mans followers and I knew that one day I would be able to join their ranks.

I arose from the hidden crevasse I had situated myself in and labeled myself as zelda_god and started leaving my marks. At first the natives were confused by the new marks they had found. It took a short time for them to become angered at the presence of this new person. Fearful for my existence I knew I had one option. I left behind the label of zelda_god and searched for what seemed an eternity until I came across a statue of a man named "Hackers Blow" and knew that I had found my name. Call it spite, call it stupidity, it matters not. Now I am one of them.

I am

In my younger days I participated in a lot of obnoxious drunken tomfoolery, and there's a particular story where I was totally out of my mind on Camo Black ice, a severely strong and evil brew.

My best friend tells me that I attempted to engage him in fisticuffs over him supposedly stealing my favorite hat, which unbeknownst to me was actually situated on my head at the time.

He says I insisted that the hat he was wearing was mine, even though my hat was black, and the hat he was wearing was white with little multicolored LA symbols all over it.

I took one swing and missed, and followed that swing right to the floor and stayed there.

The joke became that I should get some sort of sponsorship from Camo, and that the line in the ad would be BLACKOUT WITH CAMO BLACK ICE!! (sort of like that old SNL Malt Liquor Commercial

We later all decided on some half baked idea to work on back stories for all our terrible drunken personas, and that they'd be super heroes or villains, and I was given the nickname Blackout Boy. (like most drunken ideas this never panned out once we sobered up)

Luckily I quit drinking habitually a while back, so I no longer have stories like this to tell, or told to me when I don't recall them, so if I should probably change my username.

I know it's a terrible story, but we all did things like this to each other constantly back in the day, so we all were terrible people at the time, it wasn't just me I swear!

Unlike Hacker, I'm not gonna make shit up to entertain a jackass. I'll do what I did the last two times this thread was made, copy/paste what I wrote in the thread that existed before the first two duplicates of this thread existed. (The forum /does/ have a search function, Ear)

For a while in the late 90's, I used the name Ferahgo for character names or online games or whatnot. It all started with the game Darkness Falls and its sequel, Darkness Falls: The Crusade (which I'm sure absolutely no one here has heard of). When I created my second character in that game, I named him Dandin. A couple of years later, I got into a MUD game, Core, that had somewhat-enforced RP, that required you to use a name that was original, not from any movie, tv show or book. Since both Ferahgo and Dandin are names taken from the Redwall series of books, I sort of lumped them together and came up with Fernin. Over the years (read: once Darkness Falls: The Crusade was shut down because the bastards at Mythic didn't want to support it any longer), I stopped using Ferahgo, and used Fernin more often.

Undoubtedly nothing in that thread that could label you as a jackass, I'm sure. I could go further back into post history, but I'd rather not, it's just a general opinion I've gotten over the years. I'd also rather not derail this thread any further, let some other people repeat the same story they've told two to four times already, and let some of the new folks tell their stories.

You made this thread and had nothing to contribute to it. That right there, alone, is kind of the move of a jackass.

You also apparently just want to know the origin of just one particular username, never mind that it's probably the most obvious one to guess (couldn't be his name, could it?) Nah). We have a wonderful private message system, you know.

Discussion Time!

I made this stupid fucking thread (that i already wished i didn't open up) because i read from time to time the sydapedia where sometimes the origin of the name gets explained and i was curious about the other names. That is why i didn't mind that my name has no real backstory. That doesn't make me a jackass. You just get it wrong. On the other hand you said it amuses you that i didn't tell a story. I'm a little confused now, Usa. And JoshWoodzy's nick just motivated me to open this up, i'm interested in the story of every user. Whatever. If my presence in this board is so unwanted i can leave. I really wouldn't mind. It's been boring for a long time and i just come here by custom.
