I think we can all agree it's better than blowing $15 on something like a Call of Duty Map Pack.
It's better than eating a sandwich made of shit and mustard too, but that doesn't mean it's a worthy investment.
Wait, mustard?

The XBLA release coincides with my aunt's birthday, and the WiiWare release, had it not been cancelled, would have coincided with that of an old middle school friend.
I'll be playing my first X360 title two weeks from tomorrow, so I can still legitimately say that I won't touch any part of this game until all three episodes are available, even if it means waiting another two years for Episode III. That being said, I hope Episode Metal's availability isn't limited.

according to this, episode III wont be released:
Quote:
In an interview with Digital Spy, Sonic Team's Producer Takashi Iizuka has said that there are currently no plans to make more Sonic 4 episodes beyond the soon-to-be-released Episode 2.
"We are looking forward to hearing the feedback from the users for Episode 2, but we are currently not planning to release another episode," stated Iizuka. "We just want to see how the users accept this episode."
Sonic 4 Episode II will be available later this year on Xbox Live Arcade, PC, PSN, Android, iOS and Windows 7 devices. Episode I was available on WiiWare, but Sega have announced there are currently no plans to release Episode II on Nintendo's console.
In that case, I hope those of you getting this episode like it.

This is my exact philosophy concerning Madden games. I've been waiting decades to crack those open but they keep making sequels. I refuse to start it until I know there's a definitive conclusion to the story.
Looks like they fixed that shit camera from Episode 1.
So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

I agree with jprime. For real. Not in a sarcastic trolling way. An episodic game is supposed to have timely releases. TWO YEARS to release the second part of a fucking sidescroller? It should take them like a WEEK to code this shit. At least, it would it if they had any idea what they were doing. From what I've seen of Episode I, they didn't.
And let's say Episode II is good. That doesn't change the fact that Episode I is mediocre.
To be honest i got the feeling that Episode 1 was just a copy paste of the old games with updated graphics. It had the same god-damn boss fights and shit.
...and the new one looks like Oil Ocean Part 2. You would think with the time they have had to do it and the fact that it's an opportunity to make a brand new game they would actually try to come up with new zones or something instead of just reusing the old ones.

Yes, but are you abstaining from playing any of it until the "entire" run of episodes is out? It's called cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Honestly, I probably won't ever play it. The criticisms I read about Episode I make it sound completely disappointing and those criticisms are what I will forever associate with Sonic 4.
Great, but if it DID sound okay to you and you eventually planned on playing them all, would you hold off on playing it until all of them came out? No, you wouldn't. Sounds like you just wanted to say these games look bad, as evidenced by you just saying Episode I is mediocre without ever even playing it.
Personally, I'm okay with mediocre. All I ask of a game is that it not pull some unforgivable bullshit on me. If more effort than that is put into it, so much the better. Why, I'm going to be playing through Resident Evil Survivor tomorrow. The first of three times.

Downloaded this today and it's really great IMO.
I played Episode I pretty hard and it seems to have fixed most of the issues I had with it. Everything looks and feels smoother.
Platforming is back in a good way, and there is less overall emphasis on speed, although it's still there.
Also, Tails is incorporated well and the co-op is pretty fun with a friend.
Oh, and the music is fucking awesome, and the parts as Metal Sonic are a blast. They should have made a game just featuring him.
