My favorite series. Ubi originally said they wanted to stay away from conventional warfare, so I'm not sure what to think about the American revolution. Thoughts?

I think we're more puzzled as to why the box art is news or even mentioned in the title of the thread, but the release date isn't

It's written in the article. I honestly didn't want to spoil it, but whatever.

It'll be nice to see an Assassin's creed game in a setting that is not medieval/renaissance.

I'm kind of hoping that they won't be predictable, and just put the English on the Templars' side. Otherwise, I'm glad to see the Ezio arc over, so we can move things along a little.

Personally would've liked another European or perhaps Russian scenario myself, but it makes sense. Desmond's family had to make it here at some point in time.

Wait, so it's set during the American Revolution? Wow, okay. I think that possibly a more epic one could've been the 12th/13th centuries when the actual hashashins flourished, or maybe set in India, with the Thuggee cults serving as an offshoot or something. Kind of having trouble buying this premise. I'm sure it'll be a decent game nonetheless, but what's with the wave of US colonialist dystopic reinterpretation going on, like Bioshock Infinite and the like.

Whatever, I was hoping for OUTER SPACE. A series doesn't reach its pennacle until it takes place in the future and on a deserted space station.

The Truth in AC2 and Brotherhood hinted at historic people being templars (Free-masons, which a lot of people in power during the US' revolution were) and in-game emails detail something going awry in NY. They've hinted at it, but again they've hinted at many people throughout history. I've also heard it mentioned that the end of Brotherhood looks a lot like a certain place in upstate New York but it's been awhile and I doubt I could find it again.

Edit: Found it http://kotaku.com/5860156/the-end-of-revelations-and-the-future-of-assassins-creed and I had the wrong AC game in mind |

As much as it would make people groan, a WW2 setting could have been interesting. They alluded to it a lot in Subject 16's messages, including to operations happening in and out of battlefields. The spy ring stuff from that era influenced so much of today's fiction, technology was starting to get advanced but still far back enough that it could be makeshift, and stealth conflict was really starting to evolve, not to mention tons of assassinations, resistance movements, and political in-fighting that would make drawing sides really interesting.
Not complaining that they're fast-forwarding a few hundred years, of course. The American Revolution is a neat premise (could also tie up those loose ends from Mario's Map at the end of AC2). My main hope is that it doesn't feel as rushed as Brotherhood or Revelations. Hopefully that "three year" development they've mentioned isn't bullshit.

Kind of. 3's been in development at the Montreal studio since 2 came out (so 3 years.) Their French office produced one of the other two after, and they collab'ed on one.

You're still talking about AC3? That's old news, I already preordered part 4, which takes place in Vietnam and you have to assassinate Marlon Brando.

I'd play this game if you got to do a mission where you whacked Jane Fonda. That is all.
