Also, in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, if you use Jigglypuff's final smash in the bridge gap while the bridge is repairing itself will make you stay giant:
i had no idea this existed

Yep, I first learned of it in a Japanese video on YouTube. You can make yourself grow so large that you can't fit in the screen.

Probably my favorite glitch is one in Fallout 3 that lets you have two partners. While you have a partner and Dogmeat with you, just kill Dogmeat and (I guess?) the game assumes that was a partner and lets you have another one. Or at least, it let me. I ran around everywhere with Charon and the slave chick after that.

Smash Brothers Melee has a glitch that lets you play as Master Hand. Or maybe it's Crazy Hand, I forget. It doesn't really matter.
I dunno if this belongs here or in the prank thread, but back when I had a Super NES, I popped in Donkey Kong Country and when I turned it on, it must've somehow thought I was using a game copier when I saw a screen saying "This game will not work if there is a game copying machine attached to the console" or something along those lines.
I was sitting there confused and then I just took the cart out, popped it back in and turned it back on and it never happened again. Weird...

You can then get eaten by Yoshi to become screen-fillingly big.

Earthbound did the same thing, except it would allow you to play, just it would be a total dick to you, ex:
Deleting all your saves before the last boss,
Increasing the number of enemies.
Cause the game to freeze at random points.

Blaster Master also had a pause glitch.
That was the only way I ever beat the boss on level 6.

That is truly epic. I wonder if you can do that more than once to make Jigglypuff terrifyingly big.

In the firing range in Perfect Dark, if you throw the laptop gun at the wall behind you and pause before it lands, you can select a different weapon and difficulty, and the laptop gun will attach itself on the wall and do its usual sentry gun mode on the targets. These shenanigans lead to easy gold medals in every challenge.

Damn wish I'd known this at the time, I fucking hated those challenges. I guess if I break out the 64 I'll be able to get them on my actual game instead of the one I rented as a kid. I always fucked around in the range because you could wedge the door open with a movable crate and throw throwing knives or shoot at the guy outside the door.

FunFact - in Street Fighter II, "combos" were a glitch.

The gamedevs are on the record as saying this isn't a glitch but intended behavior, or so I've read.
I guess technically it's an exploit. It is game behavior that the devs were aware of, but they didn't expect it to be used and abused in the manner in which it was.

Street Fighter II had something even nastier. Guile's "handcuffs".

Thanks for reminding me why I fucking hated Guile, I almost forgot.
Also he had the freeze, and I've also heard of (but not seen) a glitch where he resets the game.
There's also the mysterious Red Fireball (this was made an actual intended feature in Champion Edition, I think), and Zangief had some glitch that let him do spinning piledrivers from across the screen.
Yeah, in later versions of SF2, doing a half circle fireball instead of a quarter circle made the red Hadouken.
Not quite. in SSF2, with Ryu, it made an actual fireball (not a chi projectile, it was made of fire) and if I remember correctly had different damage and knockdown properties than the normal one.
The "red fireball" is just a Hadoken colored red. It was a glitch that showed up rarely in SFII, and added as a rare random chance in SFII: CE. It's the same as the regular Hadoken, nothing special about it besides color. I'm pretty sure both Ryu and Ken could throw it, but I'm only 96% sure.
Getting the bug would force you to revert to an earlier save file (which, due to Skyward Sword‘s antiquated save system, you will not have unless you manually duplicated an older file onto an SD card) or restart the game from the beginning, losing all of your progress. The section in question occurs around 30 hours into Skyward Sword.
Mild Skyward Sword spoilers, and the bug fix, are below.
At a certain point toward the end of the game, while collecting pieces of a certain Song, you’re tasked with visiting the Fire, Water and Thunder Dragons in any order you choose. If you visit the Thunder Dragon first — and speak to a certain Goron adventurer more than once — you’ll find that you can no longer trigger the Fire and Water Dragon events.
In an e-mail sent to fans, which the site Zelda Informer obtained Monday, Nintendo’s Sharon Matheny apologizes for the glitch and explains how it can be avoided. The best way to be sure you won’t break your game is to complete the Fire and Water Dragon sections before starting the Thunder Dragon.
