So the 25th Anniversary Book "Hyrule Historia" is officially out in Japan today and the big deal about it is that it finally is revealing the Zelda timeline. Translations are still being done but you can see some of the scans and read what's been translated here .

The best part of this is seeing the sad flames die as all the timeline bickering shuts down.

I really like the alternate concept arts for Midna, but the final design was definitely the best choice.

Unless it's coming from Miyamoto himself, it's just a bunch of nerds releasing a book and I don't give a shit.

I still think there is no timeline and all of the games are the same story with the obvious exceptions.

This is the official Nintendo 25th anniversary retrospective book, that contains high-quality images of the early production sketches for each game, background information on the developments, and other things like that.

I really hope it gets an English translation.

You're on to something. Link and Zelda represent Germany. Mario represents Italy. Miyomoto is Japanese. Together they form the Axis Powers!

For the life of me I will never understand the timeline split that everyone talks about. It makes ero sense no matter how you argue it.

I suppose Trunks from Dragonball Z also boggled your mind? It's literally the identical thing.

So if anyone still cares about that timeline, here it is:

Cool, i'm glad this is all cleared up now.
Of course until a new game comes out and the debate begins again. I do like how the original is the furthest along.

Now wait just a gosh darn second. How can the Oracle games be between Link to the Past and Link's Awakening? Link's Awakening is a sequel to Link to the Past with the same Link.

What exactly are the three splits caused by Ocarina? Is it:
 1. Main Timeline: Ganon defeats Link, enters the sacred realm, but becomes trapped there.
 2. Mask Timeline: Link defeats Ganon
 3. Wind Waker: Ganon defeats Link, enters the sacred realm, and destroys Hyrule

 ?????

The one thing I don't get in this timeline is how the first Zelda follows Link's Awakening. I would also include how Four Swords Adventures follows Twilight Princess but I don't remember how that goes. It looks like we'll have to wait for a complete translation.
