It's got nothing to do with "pure evil," it has to do with a danger to society. They aren't pure evil(well, some are,) any more than a violent schizophrenic is. They're just a danger and the only solution is death.

Not to derail from topic, but you are so right on that one. I have a cousin who, while not a sex offender, constantly broke the law for many years. He went to prison several times, even after getting children.
And to answer atomjacked 's question, I can safely guess that that's a terrible idea. If your friend isn't allowed to use the internet, that makes it all the more miserable.

"Criminal" is subjective in that it can involve offenses of varying severity, and for varying reasons. Everyone likes to fantasize and talk about how they would brutally kill someone who abused their child for instance, but if you did go through with it, you would be a criminal. Justified in the eyes of honor, but not in the eyes of the law.
Now, does that make you irredeemable? A danger to society? A lost cause?
I have been a criminal, just like everyone else here. I guarantee you have too, even without realizing it possibly. Enough with the hawkish nonsense.
