Kirby fans who own a 3DS are in for a treat this week. The fifth 3D Classics title has arrived on the eShop in North America today, and it's the second Kirby game ever released: Kirby's Adventure.
The game was originally released on NES in 1993 before later being released on Game Boy Advance in 2002 as Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. A Wii Virtual Console version is also available. The obvious benefit of this 3D Classics version is the addition of 3D support and the ability to play it on the go if you don't have a copy of Nightmare in Dream Land (and a system that plays GBA games) handy. Its price is set at $5.99.
That's the sole 3DS-only release of the week, though a pair of DSiWare games are available on both DSi and 3DS. The first of these is the $4.99 Escape Trick: Convenience Store, a puzzle game where your goal is to escape the convenience store you work in. It's a pretty bizarre plot, judging by the trailer on the game's Nintendo.com page, but as long as the puzzles are good (which you can't tell from the trailer) that shouldn't matter much. |
Kirbys Adventure is for sale on the eshop. just a heads up.
any game recommendations out there for the eshop? all i have are the free NES games & Zelda 4 swords. oh yeah, i also bought tetris party for it.

Shantae is a DSiWare title, but well worth your money if you don't have it. Featuring DarkMaze's wife as the voice of the main character!

Nintendo has dismissed reports that the release of the ten free GBA games promised to early 3DS adopters has been pushed to 2012.
The company moved to clam delay fears after its Spanish website listed the titles as "available from next year."
A Nintendo spokesperson told Official Nintendo Magazine: "The forthcoming 10 GBA Virtual Console titles available for registrants of the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Programme will be available before the end of December 2011.
"We will make further announcements in due course."
Five of the ten games in the 3DS Ambassador Program have been confirmed so far. They are Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania and Mario Vs. Donkey Kong. |

Meh, out of that list of confirmed games, the only ones I'd really be interested in are maybes Yoshi's Island and Mario Kart.
Also, this is just a reminder that you've got until the end of the month to get your coins for the NES Ambassador games.

3DS System Update Goes Live With Unexpected Additions
The big advertised feature, as announced at Nintendo's pre-TGS event in September, is the ability to record 3D movies up to ten minutes in length. Also new is support for downloadable content and game demos; with none currently available, though, this support won't be of much use right now. Heavy StreetPass users will be able to enjoy updated versions of Find Mii and Puzzle Swap. And 3DS owners can now transfer their data (games, photos, saves) to a new system like that really nice Zelda 3DS.
The unspecified improvements to the eShop Nintendo had talked about previously include faster load times, the ability to queue up to ten downloads that can be downloaded while the system is in Sleep mode, reviews displayed alongside each game's listing, and a way to add only the funds you need. The benefit of the latter is you won't end up with extra money in your account that will never be used. With 3DS game prices ending in $.99 as opposed to $.00, before this update you would end up with worthless pennies in your virtual wallet after making a purchase.
There are also plenty of changes we had not heard about before. The StreetPass Mii Plaza now has something called Accomplishments which appear to be Nintendo's attempt to replicate the Xbox 360's tremendously-popular Achievements. There are 78 in total to collect currently, many of which are secret. Others are specifically labeled so you'll know what to do -- make it through a room in Find Mii, reach 100 Miis in the Plaza, or meet a Mii on his or her birthday. There is no equivalent for Gamerscore or the different Trophy levels on PSN. Instead, the number of Accomplishments you have are totaled -- hardly the most ideal way of comparing with friends given that not all of them are the same difficulty. Not that you can easily compare with friends; there's no built-in way of seeing friends' Accomplishments.
Also of note is the Nintendo Zone, a new app downloaded as part of the update that can be used when you're in range of a 3DS Hotspot location, of which Nintendo says there are more than 29,000. Connecting to one with the app will allow you to download freebies like 3D videos, coupons, game previews, trivia challenges, and more. |

i thought the ability to queue up downloads was pretty cool. not that i ever download that many things, its still a very neat addition.

I haven't been able to install the update yet, but the coupons intrigue me. Also, I hope you can somehow upload the videos to youtube, like the DSi could upload pictures to Facebook (what happened to that for the 3DS Nintendo?)
