				According to PCMag.com:

http://www.pcmag.com/slideshow/story/286903/the-10-greatest-super-nes-games-of-all-time/1
The article has explanations, but for people like me who don't like going through 10 separate pages, here is the full list.

10. Starfox

9. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

8. Donkey Kong Country

7. F-Zero

6. Earthbound

5. Super Mario Kart

4. Final Fantasy III

3. Super Mario World

2. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

1. Super Metroid

As I reach the end of the list now, the irony of course is that the #1 is this rounds SNES Challenge game

I would have put a fighter on there, probably either MKII or one of the SFII incarnations. Having both F-Zero and Mario Kart on the list seems redundant.

				SF II is clearly missing.

It formed the fighting game genre. You just can't leave that aside.

Super Metroid as first place is also inacceptable, it belongs to SMW. Besides that i would call it a solid list.

I wouldn't put any fighting game on that list. They were all inferior ports of Arcade games. The best games on the SNES, were game designed for the SNES, as the list contains. Not a single one of those games were an arcade port, or a game that was also made for any system other than the SNES.

The Top 4 is good, the rest is questionable. You know, part of a game's greatness is it's lasting appeal. I find no lasting appeal to the SNES incarnations of Star Fox or Super Mario Kart. They're not as fun as later versions, and Star Fox is ugly as fuck.

Funny how Starfox looks like shit and that same technology allows Yoshi's Islands graphics to still kick ass to this day. Oh that quirky FX chip...

I disagree. I don't have statistics on hand, but I'd be willing to bet that SFII was a big system mover for the SNES. And MKII was the first game for the system to include "adult" content. Both are significant contributions regardless of whether or not they were arcade ports.

The original Super Mario Kart does not hold up at all in my opinion, while F-Zero still is a blast to play, so I would remove SMK. Starfox plays fine still, but as Syd says, the graphics are really ugly (although they do have some charm), and Star Fox 64 is more or less the same game with better graphics anyway. I also think Yoshi's Island is really overrated, it has a nice style, and some creative moments, but the gameplay is far to focused on collection random shit and much slower than the normal Mario-games, which makes it less fun in my opinion. So I would remove these three games, and add Final Fantasy II, Chrono Trigger and a version of Street Fighter 2.

See I love me some Super Mario Kart

I would have bumped Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island for Chrono Trigger

Also, I know there isn't room but no Killer Instinct? I know it isn't as good as the arcade, and Killer Instinct Gold on the N64 was a waaaaayyyy better port, but damn. I understand though, just wish the list was like the top 25 and not 10, but it's a hard list to make.

I'm not sure about the order but I'd definitely bump F-Zero and Mario World 2 off the list. I love Super Mario Kart. The series had to start somewhere and that game mroe than carries it's weight in the very big franchise it became.

I'd get rid of Starfox too.

Chrono Trigger is definitely missing.

I'm not sure what I'd replace them with yet. I'll think about it.

This is what happens when I don't look at stuff right!

Also, I think Donkey Kong Country 2 should be in there, and Star Fox removed. Yoshi's Island should also have a higher position.

FUN FACT*: Star Fox is called Starwing in Europe and Australia.

Starfox 64 is also called Lylat Wars in Europe. Just, if you are interested in such random facts.

Personally i would exclude Earthbound and include Lufia 2. Bascially because i played only half an hour on an emulator and i really don't know whats the deal with it except for the unusual style of the game.

SF2 for SNES was NOT a good port. I think you are looking at it with rose tinted glasses:

Changes from the Arcade Version:

Many aspects from the arcade versions changed or simplified in order to fit into the smaller memory capacity.

The attract sequence which featured two generic fighters fighting was removed.

Some of the voices when the character perform certain techniques or special moves were removed.

The bonus stage in which the player must destroyed a pile of flammable oil drums was replaced by one in which the player must destroy a pile of bricks (this same bonus stage was also in the subsequent SNES versions, as well as both Genesis installments). The barrel breaking bonus stage is also removed and as a result, the bonus stages are now set after every four matches (rather than every three).

Some techniques were deleted, such as Chun-Li's close standing medium punch.

The walking animation of the characters when they're retreating from an opponent is the same when they're advancing, only played in reversed.

The palm tree in the foreground in Sagat's stage was removed.

The voiced countdown during the continue screen, as well as the reading of each country's name, were removed. Moreover, the font used during the continue screen is different as well.

The visuals and script in some of the endings are a bit different from the arcade version.

The upper and lower portions of the screen are covered in black bars, shortening the vertical length of the game screen. This was done to compensate for the reduced size of the character sprites and make the change less noticeable to players.

Now it was an important game in SNES history and was the best selling home game Capcom ever made, but wasn't anywhere near the greatest game for the SNES, which is what this list is. This is the 10 BEST, not "Most Important" or "Most Influential".

While I can appreciate deletions in moves (i.e. Chun-Li's close standing medium punch) being a big issue things like a missing palm tree in Sagat's stage, and visuals or scripts in the endings being different hardly makes it an inferior port. And where I did wish they would have maintained the bonus stages as they were, I was glad to have them either way.

Also, the increased speed (albeit with the code on the SNES) to faster then the arcade more then makes up for this for me. To me it is not and inferior port per say, maybe not a perfect port, but that's ok with me.

Unacceptable. Clearly an inferior port.

I would remove F-Zero (while I love F-zero, the original hasn't aged well) and replace it with Super Mario RPG. Also, I would replace Donkey Kong Country 1 with Donkey Kong Country 2. The sequel improves the original in so many ways.

I would like to disagree, DK1 is the pinnacle, 2 and 3 while great games, did not build upon the concept in any way, all I saw them do was change the sprites.

The puzzles and the interactions between the player character and the environment and the bonus games all were static in my opinion and never really matured or evolved, nothing really changed but who you were playing and the background that scrolled while you did so.

Plus the visuals on 2 and 3 seemed dirtier or grungier or more washed out or whatever you want to call it, they looked shittier than the first. The only thing I remember getting more advanced was the map navigation, instead of L-R-U-D directions sending you along a predetermined path to the next level you got to swim around and later tool around in a boat of some sorts freely in the map of DK3, which really just wasted damn time.
