There's got to be a lot of games out there that you've wanted to, or intended to finish but never got around to it.

Here's some of mine...
Castlevania IV...I got near the end
Gradius III...got to maybe level 8
Castlevania Dracula X... maybe level 4 (that game is fuckin hard)
Battletoads....Level 7 (I think it's that firepit level)
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs.....fuck that tractor beam level
Pocky and Rocky....level 5
Earthworm Jim....got to the end but didn't beat it(shit that game's hard)
Earthworm Jim 2...even harder. I think the inflated head level is where I'm stuck
Final Fantasy III(the real 8-bit version, not VI) got to the end but then my computer lost my save
Final Fantasy IX....somewhere on disc 3
Faxanadu....just started getting into it
Adventures of Lolo...got near the end
Donkey Kong Country 2...I found it to be harder than the first one

Same here. Dead Space and Dead Space 2 have been some of my favorite recent games but no matter what I never have beaten them. I play them for a few hours and eventually I'm jumping at every little sound in the game or out and I stop playing for a while. I've also never beaten Donkey Kong Country 2 or DK64 all the way but I enjoy both of them quite a bit. I still have a save on my DK64 cartridge that is pretty close to the end of the game but I've never sat down and actually finished it.

Ditto. I think I've just given up. I'll pick one of those games and finish it this year.

R.U.S.E.- I love it, and it was a great step for RTS/Strategy games, but it's either the last or penultimate level that I just can't goddamned beat. It requires you to fight a war on three fronts with a time limit and limited resources. Even on easy, it's a pain in the ass.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Final Fantasy VIII - I did tons of side shit, magic drawing and all that jazz...I get to Ultimecia, can't beat that bitch, try again a few times a day. Shortly after that my fucking house burns down. Fuck you, old-ass electrical wiring in an old-ass house built in the early 20th century.

I've never beaten GTA3:Vice City. All because of one mission: The one where you're looking to hire a getaway driver. But the guy won't work for you unless you prove that you are a better getaway driver than he is. Confused What kind of nonsensical B.S. is that?!?

Doesn't help that Rockstar are a bunch of cheating pricks where the opponent is impervious and goes slamming through traffic blasting cars out of the way with no loss of speed; meanwhile, the opposing traffic always wants to swerve into my lane and cause a head-on collision. Bleating and Babbling My game is now stopped at that one, stupid mission. I've tried it a few dozen times, at least, in multiple sittings (after about six tries with the same results I stop in a rage).

The worst part is, if they just let me use one of the motorcycles instead of horrible-controlling cars, I could probably beat the mission in one try.

*anecdote*
Whenever I replay San Andreas, and I get to the horrible train chasing mission, whenever I start getting pissed by the fat asshole not killing the guy TEN FEET AWAY, I can always remind myself that at least it isn't the getaway driver mission.

I had that problem with the first one (eventually got a good save/load) but never with San Andreas (don't know about Vice City, obviously). But I have San Andreas on the PC, with its terrible audio problems. Smile

i have it on the PS2, and the memory card loads well enough thru out the whole game. but once i get to the final mission and try to load up my game again, it just stays frozen on the NOW LOADING page.

Oblivion. Just can't care about the story, too busy grinding for loot in copy pasted caves then trekking back to town to sell if for gold I won't spend whenever I boot the game up.

This. I've been playing Oblivion on and off for over 3 years now, working on two different characters, neither one of which has completed the main storyline. So many sidequests...

FF VIII - Stopped playing at the last boss.
F XIII - Played the first 3 hours and kinda liked it. After that my PS3 froze and the game is unplayable.
Secret of Evermore - To me this was the hardest RPG on the SNES. I never ever could beat the final boss.
Gunbird 2- The 6 Stage was the farthest i could get. It's one hard bullett hell shmup...
Starfox - Could only beat the easiest route.
And probably a couple of other games i can't recall right now...

The only games I like that I still need to get around to finishing are Persona 4 and Sakura Wars.

ActRaiser, I've got it on my VC and barring the current issue of my VC being highly unstable at this point. I CAN NOT pass the Boss Rush at the end.
SoulBlazer. Only rented it, so I could never finish it or make serious progress.

One weekend I just got tired of pussyfooting around it, and decided to just crank the difficulty all the way down and plow through the main story (so I technically never truly "beat" it either). There's maybe one interesting part near the end, but those Oblivion gates just got so boring after a while. I still like the game (The Dark Brotherhood and Thieves' Guild quests were a lot of fun), but the main quest was tedious and repetitive for me.

Another one for me was MGS3. I played the first two games and wasn't hot on them, then borrowed the third and had a blast, but had to give it back halfway through. I'm going to have to buy it and finish it off one of these days...

oh! Forgot about Final Fantasy: The After Years. The completionist on me wants to get most, if not all of the awesome swag in the Challenge Dungeons before starting the final story where everyone comes together (and the bastards had to give Golbez's chapter TWO dungeons!).

Phantasy Star 2...It's one of those games that's hard to get into (I'm still looking for those muera leaves or whatever they're called)
The Immortal....A long time ago I got to level 2, but now I can't remember how I did it

I also need to finish Persona 4. That games just insane if you try to do everything right.
I forgot Gradius 3. Never did finish that either.

Yeah, the way I handled it, I played mostly blind the first time around (consulting a guide for completing Margaret and the Fox's links) and then powered through it the 2nd time, managed to get everything (but wasn't crazy enough to get every persona to level 99). Yoshitsune makes the early game insanely easy.

Comix Zone is the only one that jumps to my mind. That game is sweet, but it's a total motherfucker. There are levels I only know about from the game manual.
