				EA charges extra for preorders?!?

https://preorder.origin.com/
Yeah... they do.

By the way, that is not my purchase. I refuse to ever preorder a game.

Yeah... It's like the $5 Dollar deposit at Gamestop to pre-order a game.

Guys, this is not a deposit.

Go to the website and look. It is $54.99 + $5.00.

Check it again. It's $59.99 for the game. They take the $5 as a deposit and then charge you $54.99 when the game is available.

It does not cost extra to reserve the game.

Here's hoping Origin fails! If your account is inactive for 2 years, you lose EVERYTHING on it.

I'm guessing the "limited supply" is bandwidth. Still, how hard is it to build a server that can handle the load Steam is capable of compared to printing and shipping hundreds of thousands of retail copies?

actually, when Team Fortress 2 went free to play, it took a while for me to download the game on my laptop. im presuming it was cuz of server overload.

I preorder physical games all the time. There are nice bonuses, and Amazon offers 99 cent release day shipping on many major releases.

Still not as bad as the HL2 release day, where I had a physical copy of the game, but Steam was so overloaded I couldn't even get the verification until two days later. So I had a physical copy of the game I wasn't allowed to play.

That's fucking weak.

Seriously that would drive me so damn crazy just looking at the box of a game I bought and not being able to play it because Steam was overloaded. I would Dragon Kick the closest kid.

Steam learned from the mess and has since had a much better track record. It does go to show that they learned from their mistakes though. EA on the other hand has not had a great track record with their online presence and Origin kinda scares me. I simply don't trust them as a vendor.

That's also one thing that terrifies me about this game.

EA.

I want this game to kick so much ass, but EA's motto is certainly Quantity over Quality.

That is the frustration.

You really don't know. It might be NHL94, or it could be Dragons Age II.

This. Ever since they kicked out the old president, the new one has been more accepting of different IP's, as well as publishing games for major/minor developers without having to attach them permanently under EA. There have been some hiccups, but a publisher with a perfect track record is almost nonexistent.

				Remember the difference between:

Publisher

Developer

Vendor

Being good at one, or having an OK record with one doesn't make the company great at the other... unless you work for Activision, which is fucked up from head to toe.
