Japan's getting this thing:

The folks at Capcom Japan have put together the ultimate Resident Evil Anniversary Box. Enjoy staring intently at this great celebration of 15 years of Resident Evil. The pack contains (by the way of Google Translate):

1. Software for PS ® "Resident Evil: DIRECTOR'S CUT" × 1 each
2. Software for PS ® "Biohazard 2" × 2 pieces
3. Software for the PS ® "Resident Evil 3 LAST ESCAPE" × 1 each
4. Software for PS3 ® "Evil Revival Selection" × 1 each
5. Original Soundtrack "Resident Evil CODE: Complete Veronica" × 1 each
6. Original Soundtrack "Resident Evil 4" × 1 each
7. Item the 15th anniversary of "Pins and Stickers (STARS & Umbrella)"
8. For PS3 ® "Resident Evil 5" or "Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition" spacers

It releases on September 8th for 7,800 yen (about $100.00)

Resident Evil is such a better name than Biohazard. Just saying.

So it's Japan exclusive (as far as we know) and it's a Sony exclusive.

And for $100 you get:

Three PSX games that aren't difficult to find, two soundtrack CDS, pins and stickers(!!), Evil Revival Selection (a DLC package containing ports of RE4 and CVX, because oops, PS3 can't run PS2 games) and best of all... A SPECIAL BOX TO PUT YOUR COPY OF RESIDENT EVIL 5 IN!!!!

I dunno, seems like a rip-off. The worst part is that they didn't even attempt to put RE2 on a single disc.

I probably may buy this for novelty since I own the biohazard games for Dreamcast and Gamecube.

Even though I'm not going to buy this, this thread has prompted me to purchase RE 1,2,3 off of the PSN sometime, because (Fun Fact) I started the series with 4...

If you have a Gamecube, I heavily recommend the GCN version of RE1 over the original.

As much as I hate to say it, this Capcom offering doesn't seem like a ripoff to me, if you think about it. It's pretty much the entire core RE series (except for five, but best case scenario is NOT owning that game) along with two soundtracks in one box. For a special edition thing, this isn't bad.

Some people have no problem going back and playing older games. I do prefer the GCN version, but I don't consider the PSX one to be unplayable, just more of a chore to sit through.

Why're you getting it new, though? I got it used at Gamestop for six bucks. Surprised

They should have included the 1.5 version.
