OH MY GOSH GUYZ YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH I'M FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW!!!!

*fangirl explodes*

Like srsly. I don't feel worthy enough to actually make a thread about this movie....but Ghandi says I'm more qualified than he is and I just saw it....

Idk what to say...this movie was bittersweet for me. I mean, this is THE defining pop culture thing for my life. I have had Mr. Potter in my life since I was 8 years old...I've read the series cover to cover 18 times now, I've been to five out of seven of the midnight book releases (include the parties beforehand), and I've been to every single midnight movie premieres. THIS MEANS A LOT TO ME, and it's sad that it's...over. I mean, even A Very Potter Musical is over...what does a Potterphile like myself even do? I realize that I am by very nature a fangirl....but this was my FIRST obsession....Harry Potter will always have a part of my heart.

Ok, I probably sound like a bit of a loser right now, so I'll cut to the chase so all of you who have zoned out, I'll talk about the movie now. The movie....defies my expectations. I'm still digesting it, and I know that many, MANY of you have yet to see it, so I won't give any spoilers. But I must say that this is THE VERY BEST HARRY POTTER MOVIE EVER CREATED!!! <3

*dies in peaceful fangirl bliss*

I was never a big Harry Potter fan but it's so weird seeing them in the first one which doesn't seem that long ago and then seeing them now. One more thing to make me feel old I guess.

I am going to try and see this at a late night showing this evening or possibly Sunday evening.

I really hate going to the movies, so Sundays are usually a better experience for me.

At least I have read the book for this one and no one can ruin the story for me.

I am not a Harry Potter fan but I'm interested in knowing how it all ends. Someone just tell me the ending.

Ignore them. They all secretly adore Harry Potter, they just won't admit it.
Anyway, just got back from the movie. SO PROUD of Alan Rickman! I was so so SO waiting for his big scenes, and he knocked them completely and utterly out of the park.

When the first book was released I was too old (by my own estimation) to read what was then considered a novel for children. I agree with Blackout in that these books are good in that they encouraged youth to read more. I have never seen any of the movies in entirety, but what I saw was entertaining. The acting and visuals seemed to be quite decent. Perhaps one day when I have time I might see this movie, as well as some of the others, but I will probably skip the earlier films, which are undoubtedly aimed more towards children.

Well to me that's the charm of the early ones. I LOVED the first three books and movies, purely because it not only captured every little kid's power fantasy, but because it captured the whole 'trying to find your way through a new school and make friends' thing that I recalled so well from being that age.

Where the series started falling apart for me was books 4 and 5, where the focus was squarely on puberty and teenage angst. I dunno if I just get enough of that in my daily life dealing with teenagers, or that it was just handled a little too cliche, but neither the books nor the movie impressed me.

6 and 7, on the other hand, were great, and focused on the epic fantasy quest that had drawn me into the series in the first place. (Especially 7.) (Also, Snape. Did I mention he was awesome? Because he totally is.)

Overall though, I agree with the getting kids to read. My youngest sister literally refused to read until the first HP book, now, having grown up with them, she reads all the time. Amazing.

My wife pestered me in to reading the books. I was pleasantly surprised. I've enjoyed the movies, but don't make any special effort to go see them at the theater.

So, I've read Book 1-4 from back in Highschool, I sat down with the wife today and watched 5, 6, and 7 Part one.

I wasn't as turned off as I thought I would be and found myself enjoying them. Taking her tomorrow afternoon to see Part 2, and at least I'll know what the hell is going on now.

Never watched a Harry Potter film. Maybe I should to see if I like it or not. After all, the geeky guy at my local video store recommended the new one.
