If your in the club, you can register games/systems and do surveys and such to earn points towards prizes. Luckily they sent me a reminder email because a bunch of my points were going to expire, so I got:
They came together as one prize, pretty sweet I'd say. I think the TP one I will hang in my office, the history of link one in the play room hopefully (need wife clearance) and the Phantom Hourglass one I'll give to my daughter for her room.

Yeah, I've got the Zelda poster trio, the Mario poster trio, and the sensu fan (one of my friends damaged one of the wood panels, from fanning himself to rapidly).
I've also got a card calendar for this year and Doc Louis' Punch-Out!! from gold and platinum member status respectively.

I think it's safe to say they don't have enough rewards. And there is too much filler in there. Screensavers? Folding Fans? No man wants that crap! I wanted to hold out for the Game and Watch but that Messenger Bag looks pretty tempting, and I wanna get it for my wife so she won't wanna chop my face off anymore.

I usually save up for the big prizes, but I can understand how people who aren't as big into Nintendo as me are unable to.
Honestly, the points shouldn't expire, ever. There's no reason for it. The actually recently cut back the eligibility periods for product registration and filling out post play surveys, too. Not by too much, but still.

Wow, I'm glad I checked in today. I'd forgotten to do a post-play survey (I'm also waiting for some stuff I dled off the VC to pop up for a 10 point survey...or was that just DSiWare?)

There are post-play surveys for WiiWare, not for the VC.

i thought they did have the post play surveys for the VC. i thought i did one for Earthworm Jim.
at any rate, i agree w/syd on the points expiring. they should never expire. especially since i dont buy every game that is released by nintendo. i had to settle for a tote bag or some BS (ill give that to my niece) and then i had 20 points leftover so i bought those screensavers, since my points were expiring. now i have about 180 points & have 1 year to get more points.

It is for virtual console. I have a Smash Bros. waiting for me to complete and I recently did one for Link's Awakening.

Okay, I guess there are VC post-play surveys! I guess I just haven't bought any VC games in awhile, because none showed up in my history. I think Smash Brothers was the last one I bought, actually.

Because my points were expiring I got 2 tote bags. My wife uses them when she goes grocery shopping. Not as cool as a game, but I guess it makes it the "green" choice.

I checked my points today because of this topic and I had 130 points expiring on this very day as well... So I went ahead and got the very same Zelda posters that Rydog did, seemed like the best I could get with the points I had.
Good thing I saw this topic or that chance would have been lost forever.

I just got my Game & Watch in the mail a few weeks ago. They put a lot of special little touches like the Club Nintendo logo on the back and stuff like that. It's also very authentic.
Anyone else manage to scoop one of these up?

So for those of us who don't bother with this, could we just post our barcodes or whatever it is and let someone else get the points?

For sure, you get a little pamphlet with all first party Nintendo games with a Club Nintendo code...they could be redeemed by anyone.

Wii can't be registered for points. 3DS, DSi, and DSi XL are currently the only systems that can be registered for points.
As for the letting other people use your point codes, it works BUT you can only be given points for a game ONCE, no matter how many copies you buy. Even if you have a family account. So if the local GameStop puts some weak selling Nintendo title on sale for $5, you can't buy up all the copies and redeem the codes.

The UK version of Club Nintendo isn't quite as cool when it comes to the rewards. Just a bunch of ringtones and junk. They do have the hanafuda cards though so I'll probably grab those with my points.

You guys have been around longer though, and I think there have been some really good prizes in the past. I saw some gold statue thing that was apparently a European Club Nintendo prize.

How long can you wait to register a Nintendo game? The last Nintendo game I bought was DKCR back in November.

You can wait quite awhile. I don't know how long exactly, but anything they're still selling is still able to registered.
Also the new Club Nintendo year started today. So the prizes for 2011 were announced:
The gold prize is a calendar, which is pretty fucking weak. The platinum prize is pretty neat.

Hmm, I would get stuff from Club Nintendo if my country's Club Nintendo had good things to save up for. The lineup of stuff you can buy in my country is rather weak and limited.
Also, I missed out on that Zelda OoT 3D Soundtrack CD thingy D: (If anyone has/is getting that CD, can they rip it to lossless audio files, zip said files, upload said zip, and PM me a link. Oh, and scan the front and back cover art, using a high DPI setting)

Alright, I managed to find Metroid Prime 3 so far. There's a pin number but I bought the game used so I don't know if it'll work. Who wants to take a stab at redeeming it?
