True, but who's more likely to seek out a Link To The Past ROM: the kid who grew up playing Nintendo consoles or the kid who grew up playing Sony consoles?

You have to realize that there are gamers out there in their teens and twenties who weren't even BORN yet when Link To The Past came out, who have never played a game like that, and wouldn't understand why such a game is desirable. New gamers who like the latest Zelda game are more likely to seek out older Zelda games, and are more likely to eventually discover Link To The Past, and are therefore more likely to be interested in something 3D Dot Heroes.

I don't think the Zelda fanbase that needed to be reached for this game, would only be Wii owners.

3D Dot was based more on the older Zelda titles. No matter which current gen console you have, you owned an NES and played LoZ, and there's a fair chance you owned and played Link to the Past. Someone who has played Windwaker or Twilight Princess isn't going to get the same connection even if they are a Wii Zelda Fan. Fans of this style of Zelda, span all 3 consoles equally I'd say.

I think this point is fairly right, there is no doubt that a lot of people who played the older Zelda-games have moved on to Sony/MS, but I still believe that the majority of old Zelda-players still owns a Wii for the new Nintendo-games. At least that is the case with the people I know. Some of us might own several current-gen consoles, but all of us who had a Nes or Snes back in the day have a Wii for the awesomeness that is Nintendo's first-partygames. At the same time - and contrary to "popular belief" on the internet - in the generation of my little brother, born in 1993, nobody owns a Wii or even cares about Nintendo-games. They all play western first-person shooters, sportsgames and the big-budget action-adventuregames like Assassins Creed and GTA, and would never touch a game like 3D Dot Game Heroes. So I guess what I am saying is that the Wii, at least in my personal opinion, is not as "kiddie" as people like to think, and that nostalgia-driven games like this potentially could do fairly well on it. Anyways, that is a derailing, the game should be a multiplat, but I will play it no matter what - eventually.

You know, inspired by this very thread, I was just browsing a few online retailers for a PS3. I'm extremely tempted, but I hope I have the will-power to wait until at least I have completed my current project. I am a bit late as it is, so the last thing I need is more things to take my concentration away.

This is a common assertion, but I strongly disgaree. You know what a lot of the people who played video games in the 90s have moved on to? NOT PLAYING VIDEO GAMES.

Honestly, I don't know any of those people.

I don't know any of them, either. At least not personally. I run into them a lot though.

I think they are closet gamers because they don't know if it's still cool or they just played them because everyone else was.

There is no doubt that a lot of the people who played video games back than have moved on, and I don't disagree with that. However, the point of my post was to say that among those who still plays video games, more people than the internet usually assumes still plays primarily on Nintendo-systems, or they came back to Nintendo with the Wii. At least that is my personal experience.

My parents both used to be huge gamers, and now they're boring because they work too often to get into anything. It's really sad.
