Hi guys. I haven't posted on Sydlexia for a long time but I am returning!
I love videogames and I have played many from Super Mario Bros to Dragon Age Origins to Mortal Kombat. Throughout all of this I have realized one thing. I am unable to finish any game. Out of the about 100 games I own I think I've beaten...5? It's pretty horrible, and I keep telling myself I need to get on it. And it's not like I give up on the first level, it's like I am on the last level/dungeon/boss and I just...stop. Anyone else share this problem? If you don't please give me advice on how to fix it haha.

I buy a game and play about 5 minutes of it and then stop lol.
There is no cure lol.

I do this sometimes also, play through a good chunk of the game and then stop. I will attribute it to one of two things. One, just plain bored of the game. I mean, some games take 40+ hours to beat even without exploring/fucking around time. After a while, it just may become the same old shit and you get sick of it. Two, you really enjoy the game and don't want it to end, I'd say a lot of people beat a game then don't come back to it much or ever even. If you really enjoy it and this is the case for you, then you may not want it to end and therefor delay the process.

Are there any games that you want to finish that you currently own?

Well, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age are two. Fallout 3 is most likely because I like fucking around and I'm so lost and way to into the game for my level.

I do this. I've recently tried to follow a rule, where I have to beat one owned for each new game I want to buy.

Shit I've got a STACK of 360 games I haven't made a dent in, I swore to dominate ALL of Mortal Kombat and fucked off to do something outside around halfway through that 300 Challenges Tower.

Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy X-2 were games that I got to the end and just didn't care to finish. With X-2, I was literally about to face the last boss but just didn't give a shit.
A game I've tried to start 4 times but never get anywhere is Shadow of the Colossus. Everyone says it's an amazing game and I'm sure it is but every time I start playing it, I damn near fall asleep. It goes like this: I'll kill the first one, wonder around and do jack shit, get sleepy, try again next year.

Speaking of Final Fantasy, I'm at the end of XIII (as in, walk down the hall, boom last boss), but I don't feel like fighting him for 45 mins just to have him cast death and kill the person I'm playing as. It's also because I don't give two shits about the story.

I do sometimes, like with Zelda WW when it comes time to collect the triforce peices or beating Wily's castles in Megeman games.

The only time I don't finish a game is when I don't like it, or I come across a point that I don't like. Except for the first red Faction. That one I quit because I learned the hard way that there was no autosave after 8+ hours of continuous play.

I'm the same way. I am horrible at finishing games I start.
I've played Mortal Kombat 9 for maybe 3 hours and did maybe 10 challenge floors
I've played Dead Rising 2 for about 5 minutes
I'm about halfway through Final Fantasy 1, 3 and 5
I'm at the beginning of Final Fantasy 8, 9, 10 and 13
It usually just happens when a new game comes out, so I decided to hold out on getting Duke Nukem Forever and AM's Alice 2 until I beat a few more games.

I used to do that with Nintendo games, usually out of sheer frustration for being freakin' hard. (To this day, I've never beaten any Mega Man game on the NES).
However, from the SNES and so forth, I've beaten every single game that I've owned or rented because for some reason you get a particular rush from beating a relentless game (anyone who has beaten Contra 3 on hard without cheating will know what I mean).
That being said, the only game that I haven't beaten was Dementium on the DS, and it was just because the game got tedious for a FPS horror game; I should give it a second chance... Or just play the second game.

I do this with really open ended RPG's. I never finished Morrowind or Oblivion, mostly because by the time they were out I was already out of high school and didn't have time for that shit anymore. I did beat Daggerfall as a youngster though.

Yeah I never beat Morrowind or Oblivion either, I just leveled up as a thief / sharpshooter / caster custom class until I could rob everyone blind. Anyone else remember robbing that first town you're dropped off in blind? I stole everything not nailed down and sold it all to that asshole elf that ran the general store / inn.
Speaking of games never beat, I sometimes look at my stack of 360 and regular Xbox and Wii and GC games and wonder how much they'll be worth if I hang on to them and take care of them for 30 years or so...

I think we're all guilty of this in varying degrees, actually. I have plenty of games I'd play for a while and never finish.

I'm like this with old JRPG's. I think I've hit "new game" on Chrono Trigger and FF6 about 20 times each and only beat both of them somewhat recently.

i havent beat GTA III, GTA VC, & GTA SA. and i havent even started GTA IV.
not that i cant beat them, but my game would always freeze up near the end. everytime i got to the final 2-3 missions, and try to load my game, it would just get stuck on the NOW LOADING screen.
